Hep B-C cirrosis no health insurance

Can anyone tell me if there are any organizations available to help with medical expenses for someone with Hep C-cirrosis, hard working working,no health insurance,and needs a liver transplant?

Eventually this person will have to stop working, also has an adult child at home with special needs regarding mental health issues.  This person has turned life around, for many years, hard working and responsible, and doesn't drink.  Exposed to hep B through blood transfusion in the 1970's. Husband has Hep C also, this family is going to need help!

I would contact you local social services office.  You can also contact the liver transplant hospital, Schering-Plough, and Roche who manufacter the drugs.  Another thought is Social Security for disability and Medicaid.

Call commitment to care, you can find the number on the Shering site. The site says over 40% of patients on PegIntron and Ribovarin get their meds from the manufacturer if they are not insured or under insured.  It is the only way my hubby could get the treatment.  They have been great with the mail orders, etc.

Try either www.rocheusa.com/pegasys/index. They will treat you  as well as Committment to Care as they said.  You will need to meet a small criteria for acceptance but they are pretty easy going. Good Luck

I have a question, don't know the specifics of my friends disease, except already having cirrosis, low platelets, I understand it may be in later stages of liver disease, is this stage too late for treatment for healing? Is anything reversible at this point?  Or even possible to go into remission..could n't do a biopsy because platelets have been too low, also suffering from portal hypertension...
