high lymph and sore armpits also low neutrophils

by mll, Mar 22, 2004 12:00AM
On my blood work my lymph is at 51 normal range is 18-43 and my armpits are pretty sore. Does this mean anything? I don't know what the number means. I know lymph is your blood circulatory system and that all I know. Also, the dr's nurse said my neutrophils are low. How are the neutrophils listed on the blood test results? wbc? Can anyone help me with this? I got #4 done Saturday night only 44 more to go. Thanks

I don't want to scare you with any guesses, so please contact your doctor for follow up. If your specialist is not available, call your PCP.

Lymph glands that are swollen and painful should not be ignored or brushed off.

Neutrophils are usually AB__ or something similar.

My neutrophils are listed as ANC on my chart.  I think it stands for Absolute Neutrophil Count.  My was 4.5 pre-tx and dropped to 1.0 at wk 18.  I believe concern doesn't set in until it drops to .75

Hope this helps.  Gool luck.

My lymph nodes acted up in the first couple of months of treatment also. I suspect if you check the nodes in your groin area, you will find that they, too, are swollen and tender. My GI suggested that it was a compensational response caused by my low white cell count (neutrophils included). He was not overly concerned—actually he was quite blasé about it. I used Neupogen for the final 28 weeks of treatment and the lymph node tenderness subsided. Still, you should get it checked out to make sure it isn’t something more serious. Good luck.

The glands in my neck (just below ears) have been swollen off and on during tx.  My GP was not very concerned.  She thought it was an immune system response to the low WBC/ANC.  I don't know if my lymph labs increased.  Seems everything has been too high of too low.  I'd check it out with the doctor. Hope you get to feeling better soon. caruu

Lymphocytes are part of the immune system and listed in the CBC tests we all get. It is normal for these to be elevated if we are fighting a viral infection. The lymph "Glands" are glands that filter the lymphocytes when they get elevated while fighting off something. They keep the system stable. The lymph numbers are related to the white blood cells.

Depending on the lab that does your CBC you may or may not have ANC listed. Mine never did. There is a formula to figure it out using the Segs and Bands and something else. If you need this formula let me know and I will look it up.

Honey............WOOOO-HOOOOO!!!  THAT IS GREAT NEWS!! GATORADES FOR EVERYONE...I'M BUYIN!!!!!!!

Sure makes things look a little more Rosey don't it?

This is a strange ? but am a little strange anyway, a good thing I think.

In animals when there lymphnodes swell up and they do not go down they can suffer from edema in there legs, beacause of fluid build up. Is thsi tru for humans?

JUST A ? GUYS DONT MAKE FUN !!! TEEHEE

Some labs call neutrophils granulocytes, Quest does mine and that's the way it's always listed, neutrophils isn't on there at all.
