Insurance problems, doctor problems, etc., on my treatment

I'm feeling really frustrated over my ability to be able to stay on treatment. About 3 mon. ago, I was approved for Soc. Sec. Dis. and that came with a Medicare card. I had started using it for Dr. visits and such, but not for my meds because I had coverage for that through my husband's insurance company presc. drug coverage. Now, they've sent him a letter wanting more information because they're telling him that I'm covered under another plan. This is a bunch of bull because Medicare has no prescription drug coverage without you having a supplement and if UHC decides they don't want to cover my drugs, then I'll be up a creek. Medicare, I don't think, covers Interferon even when you do have a supplemental plan. I thought about trying to get covered under an indigent drug program. My husband says, "we'd have to get divorced before you'd qualify because my income is too high". However, since he does not live w/me anyway, I don't know how that would matter. On the 2nd prob. I can't find a doctor who wants to treat me for the Hep C. My former doctor retired and even though he can write prescriptions for me, he no longer has an office, he's working part-time at the county jail. And since I'm not in jail... I'll just have to pray about it all and hope that the Lord will make a way, if he wants me to treat this. Susan

Just one more reason to have a nat'l health plan as every other industrial nation does. 2008 and Hilary Clinton can't come none too soon!

When I had my 'bleed', he was not allowed to see me, make decisions, obtain info b/c we weren't married. And as sure as rain-we live in WA-I will have a major incident again before I die of liver failure. I'm flat out of anything to progess to, I done did them all! 50% of major bleed's patients are dead in 2yrs and 90% in 5yrs. I'm 3yrs w/no medical supervision for 2 yrs.
B/anyway, since we can't marry now, he'll have 'no' say and no info 1st hand to make critical decisions. And my kids won't inherit much. its a b***h either way, isn't it!?!
Ny also has a Family Health Plus where the income allowed is higher and resources are not counted.
See if your state has comparable insurance, plus you are right about his income not counting if he is not in the household, but his help to you will count if he declares it.
Basically, they want to know how you meet your monthly expenses, so if you redeem bottles to make ends meet, they will count that as income. IF you expenses are low and you can show meeting them without his help, it will be better. Then his assistance will be extra, and hopefully he does not need to declare it.
If you have Medicare, can you enroll in Medicare managed care? If it helps with Rx?
