.Hi I'm looking for answer for my husband, could you help me?

-In 2000/03/04 the chemistry result show that is bilirubin, total is 25 3-22 umol/L but everything else is normal, the Doctor as no consern.

-In 2000/06/ He took oral anti-fungals for a fungal nail infection for a month.

-In 2000/06/23 a full blood chemistry & urine specimen was done per the life insurance, everything was normal, he was accepted.

-Had a small surgery in a clinic

-In 2001/10/25 a screening test for anti-hcv from the red cross was done and was found to be positive. His alt was 44 and his ast 23 with an alkaline phosphatase of 66 and his albumin 51.

-In 2002/01/09 the specialist at that point he think its a false positive.

-In 2002/02/22 a HCV-RNA was done and the result ws positive, indicating that he truly does have hepatitis C. In addition, he had a slight elevation of ALT to 78.

-In 2002/06/11 following the biopsy, the later showed very minimal chronic hepatitis with grade 1 inflammation and no fibrosis the specialist dont consider treatment at that point.

-In 2004/06/14 on this visit his albimin was normal but his ALT was 121. And they also tell him he has the genotype 1b.

2001/09/27 hepatitis C Evidence of antibody
2002/01/17 hepatitis C Evidence of viral RNA(50 I.U./ml)
2004/06/14 Hepatitis C viral RNA is (600 I.U./ml)

.Well there is a possibility that he contracted after life insurance policy but also,,,,maybe not. I had 2 policies through the years and perfect blood work and never knew I had. You can't always go by the blood work and need a hep c test to see if you have. I'm really not sure about the bilirubin test and hope someone else will help you on this...Best of Luck to you and your husband..

.hcv testing is not part of many physicals, even from insurance companies, it is possible that yours did not include it. the blood pool started getting tested in the early 90's. it is not impossible to get blood borne illnesses like hcv or hiv, but it is much less common.
