6weeks and 3 days--and no heartbeat :(

im about 61/2 weeks...i had an external and internal sonogram yesterday. he saw the sac and the yolk and possibly a glimmer of an embryo. but seemed way too small. my concern lies with the fact that there was no heartbeat...yet! Does anyone have any experience with this. i had a d/c in sept and CANNOT go through this again...thanks-

hi,

i just want to tell u i know how u feel!i had an internal and external at 6wks with my previous pregnancy and no hearbeat was seen or even an embryo!just the sac..i was told i was goin to miscarry.

6 wks is very early to be able 2 see much or hear much!thats why our 1st scan is 12weeks and we dont hear the heartbeat for a while either.

i would try not to worry and keep reminding yourself an embryo was seen and you werent told the worst and 6weeks is very early!!

I am in a similar situation.  I also had a DNC in September and am pregnant again.  I am only 5 1/2 weeks now.  I am scheduled for my ultrasound next Wednesday to look for a heartbeat.  I was actually trying to locate information on ultrasounds to know what to expect when I found your posting.  Like you, I cannot go through another heartbreak.  My doctor seems to think that by next week they should find a heartbeat by ultrasound.  With the baby I lost, we did have a heartbeat at 6w6d, but it was not fast enough.  When the ultrasound was repeated the following week, the heartbeat was no longer there.  Are you having a follow-up u/s?  Have they taken any blood to check your beta levels?  If not, request both!  Your hcg/beta levels should double every 36-48 hours.  I am praying that you will soon see the heartbeat.  I have read that sometimes a baby can be positioned so that it is difficult to see.  And keep in mind that not all pregnancies follow the "rules".  You may not be as far along as you think.  I know what you are going through. I hope it all works out for you.  Please let us know.

I'll pray for you guys!  I had a "false pregnancy" aka blighted ovum 2 years ago this coming april.  Fortunately I never saw a heartbeat or any baby.  Just an empty sac.  the D&C was 2 weeks later (because my dr was going on vacation and couldn't do it sooner) and I was a mess.  I think my situation completely had to do with being on the pill; the egg couldn't implant but still gave off the hormones making my body believe that I was still pregnant.  This is a horrible thing to have happen.  



HERE IS MY HELPFUL NEWS ;)  With my 2nd pregnancy 2 months following my D&C, they thought i was having another false pregnancy.  I went in at "6 weeks" and my sac was flat and no baby.  I was crushed.  She told she wouldn't do a D&C yet and to come back 2 WEEKS LATER (the most horrible 2 weeks of my life, i promise you).  My appointment was on a Wednesday and No kidding I scheduled the d&C for Thursday, just in case. Well on Wednesday, the u/s revieled my son!!!!!  6 weeks, 4 days!!!!!  SO it came down to me ovulating later than anyone could guess :)  I counted and recounted and counted again....but when I saw that heartbeat none of that counting mattered!  It was an amazing day.  I pray you have the same day!  You have been through enough and you deserve to have your baby!

Just had my sono today - 7 weeks...I am showing like I'm 3 months and very excited.  Second child - etc... At the sono - there was no heartbeat.  They want me to come in this week for a D&C - but WHAT if everything is fine and I kill a healthy baby.  Any advice?

Due to some spotting, I had a sonogram at 5 weeks 6 days.  There was no heartbeat and the tech told me it didn't look good.  I went to the OB/GYN and she said that the fetus looked to be 8 weeks due to the size and that there was a heart and should have been a heartbeat; she recommended a D&C, no mention of bloodwork.  I requested a second opinion sonogram.  She scheduled one for a week later but said she did not expect any different result.  I went through a week of hell, devastated, lots of crying and feeling sick.  I got the second sono, this time there WAS A STRONG HEARTBEAT.  The fetus is about 6 weeks in size not 9!  I obviously switched doctors.  To anyone in a similar situation, stick it out, be thorough, get second opinions, its hard, but take the time to know for sure before jumping to a D&C.

Wow.  That is amazing.  I am in the situation you were in.  I went to the hospital b/c of spotting.  The ultrasould tech said I was 5w6d and there was no heartbeat, they told me it did not look good.  So then my dr took my blood the next week to check the levels of HCG.  The numbers were increasing dramatically.  But I am still spotting.  I have to have a second ultrasound done in two days.  I am very nervous.  I am so glad you got a second opinion and another doctor.  Thanks for sharing that with me.

I am 39 and had a blighted ovum in sep.  3 months later preg again.  Waiting for my first u/s has been filled with much anxiety.  From my hcg levels I should be about 7 weeks but 8 weeks from lmp.  Had my ultrasound yesterday and the nightmere continues.  This time there is a yolk sac and fetus which measured about 61/2 weeks but no heartbeat.  Doc says there is still hope, took blood for hcg count and I am to repeat u/s in a week.  I have 2 stepchildren and this is my first attemp at having my own.  I AM DEVASTED!  Any simular situations or hope out there?????

I had my first appointment on Feb.18 at 7w5d from lmp and my doctor didn't really see much of anything.  She told me to come in 10 days later (which is this Friday) because maybe my dates are wrong.  I don't know when I ovulated but I do know that I had my lmp on 12/26.  I went in for a second opinion two days later and that doctor said the baby is measuring 5w6d with no heartbeat.



I was wondering if the doctors thought you were 9 weeks because of your lmp?  If that is so, then there still might be hope for me.



I go in tomorrow.
