ectopic pregnancy?

by groozfraba, Mar 12, 2004 12:00AM
Since I last posted about the bleeding and cramping, I've seen 4 different doctors (one in walk-in clinic, fam. doc., er. doc, and ob/gyn) and I've had a u/s.  all this in 3 days.  The u/s showed a cyst on my right ovary, but didn't show a gestational sac.  The ob that i now have is going to order another u/s next week.  But he is fearing that it is an ectopic pregnancy.  Is there anyone here whose had one of those?  I'm nearly 7 weeks, and the pain isn't all that bad, more of a pain now than a cramp, but all to the far right.  I'm not bleeding anymore (i think that was just from the sex).  And I've been told by a reg. nurse (a friend) that the sac could be behind my c-section scars (had 2 c's), so it's may to be hard to find.

If there is anyone who's had an ectopic, is there anything you can say to help me figure to see if it's actually this?

Hi there! I had an ectopic last August and I didn't spot for the first few weeks.  Then I would spot sporatically..sometimes a little..then it got progressively worse.  i didn't have any pain really until the last week.  Mine ruptured at around 8.5 weeks.  The last few days I was spotting more frequently and during all of this time I had multiple ultrasounds and blood draws.  I had mine on the right side and at the end of it as it got close to rupturing it got more and more painful.  I hope you don' thave this - please keep us posted.

I also had an ectopic back in august.  Luckily mine was taken care of before rupturing.  I went for a routine yearly, was told my uterus was enlarged, had blood drawn and 3 ultrasounds.  Then I found out I was pg.  I had no indications, no pain, and only started spotting a bit a day before I was scheduled to have it removed.  I qualified for a methotrexate shot and it took 6 weeks to dissolve.  Even though it emotionally took a toll on me I do feel I was lucky that it did not rupture. Oh and after all the ultrasounds and so on they never did quite pinpoint where the baby was. I just had hcg levels that would rise (not double) and fall dramatically.

That is the thing, I'm not bleeding.  I did once, but that was after intercourse and he hit my cervix pretty hard.  I haven't bleed since.

I only spotted a couple times at first, but once I hit the 7-8 week mark it got more frequent...then it started heavy and I thought for SURE i was miscarrying but my HCG levels still doubled so they were puzzled, but given my levels were over 10000 they should have seen a baby inside my uterus with a heartbeat at those levels and all they saw was an abnormally shaped sac (come to find out later it was a pseudo sac) and they decided to do a d&c to rule out ectopic because my levels were so high they knew there was a baby in there somewhere...that night it started rupturing and after a d&c and laparascopy, they found the baby in my right tube =( Just wanted to let u know my experience.  I pray that you don't have to go through an ectopic..it was really a hard thing to go through! ((hugs)))

I am hoping that it is not an ectopic. I've got my fingers crossed.  I'll be 7 weeks preg. this Tuesday, and I'm not having any increased pain, in fact it's almost all gone.  But I still think the pain is from the cyst on the ovary.  I have to wait until next week for another u/s and to see the doc though.  I hate waiting.  I see the doc on monday 11am, I'm glad that it's early in the day.

I didn't feel anything either.  I actually was feeling really good. I showed little to none of the 'warning" signs.  I hope for the best for you.  Nobody should have to go through this kind of worrying.  Keep us posted

Hi, just sort of looking for info…I should just wait until I hear back from the doctor this afternoon with more hcg results…but!

So, I started what I thought was my period 2 days late on 6 March and it was heavy but basically normal (we just started ttc last month) and it sort of stopped on 11 March. Then 15 march it started again, but this time dark brown, thin and with clots (ie 'prune juice' with clots!). No cramps really apart from the occasional ‘pinching’ in my lower abdomen. This continued the same all last weekk and is still going today (22 March). On Friday 20 March, I had a ++ pregnancy test at the doctors (went because sort of concerned about weird bleeding - always been completely regular 28 day cycle with 7 day menses) and the US confirmed no intrauterine sac. So my hcg levels on Friday were 310 IU per L and now I just have to wait to see if they have a) dropped = incomplete miscarriage and poss. need D & C; b) at least doubled = poss. early (<4 weeks) pregnancy (?? Means I ovulated just before my period??); or c) increased = ectopic pregnancy (my biggest fear!!!). I do not have any pain but this weird bleeding just continues. I have (naughty! Just increases my fear!) been looking at info on the internet and one article said “In women with pain or bleeding and serum ß-hCG levels less than 1,500 mIU/mL, the risk of ectopic pregnancy is substantially increased, while the likelihood of normal intrauterine pregnancy is low.”

Uggh!

Has anyone else had an ectopic with no pain but bleeding and how did they diagnose and what was the treatment??? Or maybe this is just a normal miscarriage??

Any help and reassurances appreciated!

Jane

I am kinda going through something simular. I was said to be 2-3wks pregnant on a routine dr. visit june 28th 2007.  I had been tring to get pregnant for 3 yrs after a miscarriage, so this was news since we had given up for a while.  I have a reallu good dr, and she kept with me. I started to spot very very lightly ad I went in for a pelvic exam and she said my cervix was still closed and she checked my hcg levels eod first was 28th-51  1st-34  and where they dropped she did a ultra sound and checked my tubes for an eptopic, and didnt find anything  so on the 3rd-my hcg dropped slightly more to 29 , 5th-21hcg,   7th-17  I had in my mind that I was loosing the baby even thought i had no bleeding or cramping or pain of any sort. so today the 16th I go back to get my hcg and it went back UP TO 22!  So they are thinking I might have n eptopic pregnancy again, and want to do lap surgery to go in and see. they said where I have had fertlily problems they could check for endometriosis (which runs in the fam) and scaring.
I dont know what to think can HCG levels slightly drop then go back up, one dr I talked to said I could have had twins and lost one early early on (i am right at 6 wks) and my hormones are just leveling back out.
please let me know if this happened to any one, adn does this happen in eptopics?
