Cervix feels slightly open...

by Abacus, Nov 16, 2004 12:00AM
I have a question regarding how your cervix should feel in the first month to two months.  I know I should refrain from checking now that I actually am pregnant but with my lack of symptoms I guess I have been trying to find signs anywhere I can!  At first it was closed over but now it feels soft like lips but the outer part feels relaxed and open-ish, not open open, just open-ish.  Sorry for being so graphic.  Am I just being paranoid?

Thanks in advance.  This is such a great forum.  Everyone has already been so kind.  I just wish I could help others but I just don't have the answers you guys have yet.

Have a great day!

Sorry, I don't have a clue. I really don't think you should even be checking though.

I agree with Caper.....you should not be checking. There is a reason that a OB will only check you when they do the inital pap and then not again until you are past week 36.......

Have you been to the doctor yet?

Some women don't have symptoms at all, maybe you are just one of the lucky ones.

If you haven't been to the doc I would make an appt. and I would also let him know what you've felt. But again, I would stop checking.

Good luck,

Vikki

If it were openish as you describe, imagine what you could be introducing in terms of bacteria. If you are concerned that you do not have symptoms, let your doctor know and maybe they can accomodate you with a u/s or something.

OH MY GOSH I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ASKED THAT??? I felt the same thing this morning!!!  how weird..  I check about once a week to get a perfect idea of mucus color.  Luckily it's always been bright white.  Today I noticed my cervix felt open???  it really scared me??  but it must be normal i would think?  no spotting or anything. I have a dr appointment on Thursday so I'll ask doc.

Oh and checking your cervix with clean hands isn't introducing anything more than a penis would during sex?  aFter all that is the organ the man uses to urinate....

How ironic that you would be wondering the same thing.   hopefully it's normal...  I can't lose this baby... i'm gettin too attached already!!!!  momttc
