Irregular Shaped Yolk Sac.. Panicked and could use some thoughts.

by PamSz, Nov 29, 2004 12:00AM
I am 7w5d along and I have been having issues with my pregnancy since week 3 with a subchorion.bleed. I have had 3 ultrasounds to date. At my last appt. my nurse practioner told me that the lab report noted that their concern is with an Irregularly Shaped Yolk Sac. It is stated as "abnormally shaped". She said that they want to wait until 12/8 to do another ultrasound so that it is given time to possibly work itself out..she said that it could just be a divit in the yolk sac that they are concerned about and it could work itself out. She said, however, that she wants me to prepare myself that at the same time, it may not work itself out. She said, in that case, we would be put into a position of having to make a moral decision and do some soul searching. She told me that even though my uterus/baby is measuring perfectly and heartrate is up, that unfortuantely that has little to do with the separate issue of the yolk sac.

I am near having a melt down. I have no choice but to wait until Next Wednesday to have the u/s and then to talk to a doctor right after about their findings. She said that i WILL have an answer after that appointment about the situation.

I have read posts on other sites that a large percentage of

misformed yolk sacs end up in pregnancy termination. I am not ready for that.. this has certainly been a rollercoaster and I am not sure that I can sanely go through this uncertainty anymore. Have any of you got any information for me? I do not want people to tell me what I want to hear, I want honesty..

Thank you so much,Ladies.

I think it is simply too early to know what to think. There could indeed be a dent in the sack or the machine could be wrong or the tech could have been wrong. It may have fixed itself, which is not unheard of. Cross your bridges when you come to them and DON'T make any rash decisions about the pregnancy until you are 100% sure. Get a second opinion if you need to! Good luck, my thoughts are with you.
