HCG levels Rising, Low Progesterone

by kmiddleton, Jan 17, 2005 12:00AM
At 4wks4days my HCG was 500

at 5wks my HCG was 2000

at 5wks3days my HCG was 5300, but my progesterone was 8.

I had an ultrasound at 5wk3days and found the gestational sac but not the fetal pole, Dr. informed me that it was maybe too early to see and to come in for another ultrasound in 1 week.  If I had a blighted Ovum would my HCG be going up?  Does this sound like a miscarriage?  My Dr. put me on progersterone supplements to see what happens.

Doesn't sound like a m/c to me at all. Your numbers are rising and it is definitely too early to see much on the u/s. Going on progesterone is the best thing to do. Sounds very positive to me. Good luck next week. Keep us posted.

My dr told me that they don't even expect to see a fetl pole until HCG is 10,000.

Your numbers are definitely within range.  Often doctors are too quick to doom a pregnancy at the expense of the poor mother's emotions.  Go to this web-site to get more support and encouragement from women who have been told that they were going to miscarry or had a blighted ovum, only to end up having their babies.  I wish you well!

P.S.  Often a fetal pole is not seen this early at 5 wks.  Especially if you have a tilted uterus.  You are way too early to diagnose this pregnacy as miscarriage/blighted ovum.

An update:  I went for my ultrasound yesterday at 6w3d, saw fetal pole and heartbeat, everything looked good.  I think I will be nervous until 1st trimester over. Thanks to all of you for your support.

Yeah!  I'm so glad!  I wish you well.  Be sure to post your success story at the above web-site if you get a chance.  Your story will greatly encourage others.  Take care and happy pregnancy!
