Implantation bleeding

by akbartley, Feb 27, 2005 12:00AM
My LMP was Januray 27th.  My cycle is always 30 days and I believe I ovulated February 12-13 according to cervical mucous.  I had very light pink spotting on Weds(2/23), Thurs(2/24), and Fri(2/25) and I was supposed to start my period on Saturday(2/26).  I started to bleed a little on Saturday afternoon and then it was heavier later that night, but my question is that it is more clear and slimy than bloody.  There is blood in it, but it is not like any period I've ever had.  I am wondering if it could be implantation bleeding?  It is heavy like a period but not the same consistency.

Implantation bleeding (and some think it is a myth) should be nothing more than some light spotting for a day at most.  That being said, you CAN have early pregnancy bleeding from a variety of causes, like cervical irritation from pregnancy hormones.

If you still don't think this was a period, test in a couple days, or go to your doctor.

Talking to your doctor is probably a really good idea..I ovulated of the 24th and on the 30th I had "implantation bleeding".  I only saw it one time, only when i wiped and it was more brown/ dark pink in color.  I did have some slight cramps.  I am now 8 weeks pregnant.  And from what i have read about it, is that it can last up to 48 hours depending on how traumatizing the implantation was to the uterine wall.  Also some period type cramps can accompany it.  The texture changing in the period blood can range from many things..pregnancy defiantly changes things and textures down there.. there is a lot more fluid and goo.. but it could have also been just some excess "***" coming out with your period.  Good luck!

It sounds like a period to me since implantation bleeding doesn't usually last more than a day or two and is not red in color.
