early teething

by manman, Mar 17, 2005 12:00AM
Hello ladies,

I havn't been on the forum since January, I have really missed talking to everyone. Life has been crazy for me since my little one was born on the 30th of December, I'm sure many of you can relate. My question to all of you is, have any of you had a little one that has started teething early. DS was 11 weeks old yesterday and he has 2 little white specs on his bottom gums. When I talk to people about it they think I'm crazy, they all say he's too young to be getting teeth. I think it's a little early myself but what do you  do. I have also heard that the earlier the teeth come in that they usually don't end up being good teeth. I hope some of you can shed some light on this situation for me..

Kassimom - I havn't seen any post on here from you, how are you doing?

Nanakay - How is your little one doing, she should be about 9 or 10 weeks by now, hope all is well...

hey it is great to hear from you!

have you tried to feel his gums and see if you can feel teeth?

my dd has little specs too but they aren't teeth....they will look like thin white dashes if they are teeth and usually you can feel the teeth when they are just under the surface!.

thank you for asking she is doing very well, she is a great sleeper (although the last few nights she been waking up to eat, my sister says that's a sign of a growth spirt..ds never did that)

i actually still have such a hard time with peoples reaction to her....my mom was holding her the other day at the swimming pool and this man that she knows was just going on and on about how beautiful she is...we hear it all the time.  i know i think she is beautiful but i think i have a bias opinion. :)

well glad to hear from you again hope to hear more soon

DD is 7 now so it has been a long time since I have seen little teeth coming in, the lady that keeps him for me says she's almost positive that there teeth, but she's no dentist.

DS is sleeping good too, he has also been waking up, I have been laying him down around 7pm and he'll sleep till 3:30am and wake up hungry. Which has been kinda hard since I went back to work because I usually lay him back down around 4am and then I have to get up at 5am so that I can get everyone ready and out of the house.

I would love to see pictures of your DD, let me know if you have any that you can email.

It sounds like teeth to me.  They may not be popped through yet but it sounds like it may be soon.  I do not think it means they are bad teeth if they get them early but I have heard if they get them early they will lose them early.  My DD got her first teeth at about 6 or 6 1/2 months and lost her first in Kindergarten.   Keep feeling around your baby's mouth and letting them bite on something.  Good Luck

I truly do not believe it is too early for ANYTHING, that's just ppl comparing to the norm, there are some babies born with teeth already in plates

Would love to see pics of your dd too. I am going through the similar thing with my 3 month old. People stopping and staring and commenting. A lot of men too! I think my dd is teething too. She is constantly making bubbles and i too saw white marks(dashes) on her bottom gums. Could not keep her mouth open long enough to feel for them.

Hey everyone!!!

My little man is teething too!  He was 4 months the other day.  At around 4pm EVERY afternon he gets all grumpy and chews everything and this last until he finally tires out and goes to bed aat about 8pm.  I know it's not his fault it is just really frustrating!  I went to the shops today and got a stack of teething rings and things for him to choo on.  Do these really work? please say yes now that i have spent a fortune on them LOL!

Josh also had his first accident this morning.  I was feeding him custard from a can and he grabbed it and pulled and sliced his finger open.  I didn't have a first aid kit.....I do now, I went straight out and got one after I tried to stop the bleeding with a cut up big person bandaid.  He looks so cute with his finger all bandaged but I feel reaaly bad about what happened!!!  Never using the can again, I will always be putting his food in a bowl!!!
