Genuine early pregnancy signs or just side effects of progesterone supplement?

by kittymommy, Mar 27, 2005 12:00AM
After two previous losses, I got a positive HPT a few days ago.  I am 5 weeks and 1 day and already my boobs are noticeably bigger.  For any of you ladies who have used progesterone supplementation via either oral or vaginal and gotten pregnant....what were your early pregnancy symptoms and at what stage did you get them?   I don't really have any nausea yet or any other symptoms.  I am unsure as to whether this is a genuine early symptom, or is it just the 50mg progsterone suppositories that I'm taking?  With my last pregnancy, I didn't develop bigger boobs until about 8 weeks or so, right before I found out that the fetus had died.  I'm trying to be encouraged because my body is changing this early, but it's so hard to be optimistic when you're afraid of having your heart broken again.  Can any of you who've used progesterone tell me about your early signs?  I will go for an early u/s in another week or so, but until then it is driving me crazy trying to figure out if the symptoms are genuine this time.  From what I have read, it seems like my prescribed dosage of 50mg suppositories is on the low side from what some of you have taken.  I want to know if 50mg is enough to make these symptoms appear artificially, or is this truly pregnancy related?  Please advise if you have any info.  Thanks.

From what I understand hpt test hcg levels, not progesterone levels, hcg levels begin to rise after 7-14 days after implantation in the uterus occurs(placenta produces the hcg)

So I would say you are pregnant!!

Blood tests from the doctor would confirm this so make a appointment

Also many of us also had the unfortunate event of a miscarriage happen to us but we have  gone on and had children.

So keep happy thoughts!!!(I know its hard to and worry some)

Good Luck

I have not gotten pregnant yet while on the progesterone, but just to let you know, the 50mg of progresterone makes my boobs get really big every month.  But I also know that one of the first symptoms of pregnancy is bigger boobs, and sore boobs!  Try to be patient...try not to jump to any negative conclusions!

You are definately pregnant if you got a Pos HCG on a home test.

All you can do is hope and pray, and keep positive about the outcome.  See your doctor as he/she advises, eat right, and be happy.  Worrying and negative energy doesn't usually add anything positive to an experience.  I know you were deeply hurt before--but you won't prevent being hurt if it should happen again by trying not to get your hopes up.

Good luck to you!
