Paxil and the liver

by Jon, Mar 25, 2000 12:00AM
My eight year old has been on 10 mg. of Paxil for about a year now. Should she have occasional lab work done to check for liver problems etc...?

Jon,

Monitoring liver studies while on Paxil is not necessary unless there is some medical issue(liver problem) that nescessitates it.  Please discuss this further with your childs physician if needed.

Sincerely,

HFHS MD-JM

With all that is out there being said about Paxil do you worry what the long term effects for your child will be.

Has she had any side effects? From what I read the liver is not the only thing to be concerned about.
