| mnm 4/11/2003 | . | I have for many years had off and on anxieties. Far places, croweded places also nervouse and my mind was alway's thinking what if this happens while I'm here, what if this happens if I'm there. I had a very scary experience when I was 12 now I am 37 and I still panic thinking this could happen again. I smoked too much pot one night and I freaked out with a feeling of not being their I felt I was outside my body. It's kind of hard to explain but everysince this happen I think this started my battle with my history of anxiety and panic attacks. Ok, finally I saw my Regular Phician who started me on effexor xr, I gradually worked up to 150 ml a day. I was on it about 3-1/2 months when it seemed it wasn't working as good as it did. I than went to talk to a Phyciatrist who was monitoring me once a month. I told her it seemed it's not working as well as it did previously. She than told me to stop the effexor xr and start for the 1st day with 150 ml of willbutrin and the second day and so on take two pills of 150 totalling 300 ml per day. I started that last Friday and I could not sleep and felt very uneasy so I dropped down to 1 pill 150 a day for this week and maybe next week I'll take the 2 pill of 300 ml. The problem is I feel so bad, I have no patients and snap and become more violant towards my husband, I feel anxious, nervouse, sick uneasy, my head is foggy and feels funny, I am very achie moody and feel more deppressed then ever. Please tell me becuase my Doctor who prescribed willbutrin is on vacation for two weeks. Is this because I aburtly stopped effoxer and jumped to willbutrin or can it be the medicine may not be right for me. Will I ever feel good again and how long do the side effects take from stopping effoxor and staring willbutrin? Thank you for your time. MNM |
| Forum-M.D.-RG 4/14/2003 | mnm | It sounds to me like you stopped the Effexor before you had the full effect of the wellbutrin. YOu should talk to your physician about this and ask him whether you should go back to ONe half dose of the effexor and add the wellbutrin, and then decrease the effexor when your psychiatrist comes back. That combination should do the job for you. |
| brandeej 4/12/2003 C1 | . | I am currently stopping my Effexor XR. My MD said to just stop after taking 75mg a day. My dosage has fluctuated since Oct. 2000. After just over 48 hours of "cold turkey", I caved and popped my last 75mg pill. What do I do now? What will happen to me tomorrow? I'm terrified of the possibilities as I've read some horror stories about the withdrawl symptoms from Effexor XR. I no longer have health insurance, and therefore cannot afford to pay $250+ for a script of the med. AAAHHHH! Please help! brandeejones@cox.net |

I was only on it for the longest was around 4 months, so I suppose it will be easier and a shorter amount of time to feel no more side effects or withdrawerls. I am lucky enough to be to on Medicad due to having a baby and I reapplied and was excepted. I don't know your surcomstances but it could be worth a try. mnm |
| shygirl37 4/24/2003 C4 | . | I just started Wellbutrin last Friday and my doctor is slowly weening me off of Paxil. I am having the same problems you are having. I feel really bad. I have trouble sleeping. Even with a sleeping pill. I wonder if he should have stopped my Paxil at all? |
| lilyfrisk 4/26/2003 C5 | . | I also experienced agitation and sleeplessness while on a combination of Paxil 20mg and Wellbutrin SR 150mg. After discontinuing the Wellbutrin, these effects lessened, but now I'm currently taking Paxil CR 12.5mg and I'm sleepy all the time. My psychiatrist says finding the right med or combination thereof is sometimes a long process of trial and error, since everyone responds differently. At this point, I'm ambivalent about taking any antidepressants at all. I'm not sure which is worse--living with them or without them. |
| shygirl37 4/26/2003 C6 | . | I was wondering about the herbs they have out now, if they would be better for you then the meds. They are not suppose to have side effects or be addictive. Has anyone had any experience with herbs with depression and anxity? |
| Teec 4/27/2003 C7 | . | I recently stopped effexor xr. I too couldn't afford the 268.00.I went through the most awful sensatons.While trying to go to school.I had to leave,school early. I'm 45 female. (Post menopausal).I was feeling like my brain was being jump started.I could hear sounds,like wooshing, only when my eyes moved,I couldn't stay focused. I was agressive, scared. Irritable,Hot ,cold,crying.I was terrified that I was losing my mind.I'm now on Tofranil pm,generic ofcourse.I had no sensetivity from my therapist, about this condition. She seemed as tho it was no big deal.Maybe she should hear things that aren't there, maybe she would be more sensitive.I remember turning my head and thinking what is that.
