Hi,
What are 2 foci white matter T2 hyperintensities?
An MRI is read in 2 phases
T1: for anatomy
T2: for pathology (a deviation from normal) and hyperintensity is used for MRI and hyperdensity is used for CT scans
2 foci = 2 small areas
Are they lesions? Not necessarly..they could be if they are more than 5mm and oval shape and certain number/ location, and perpendicular to the ventricles...ext
Does this mean possible MS if there is more than one? NO
Though, MS has MRI Criteria (I mentioned some of them above) but its a clinical diagnosis in the first place!!!
What do hyperintensity mean? if its sizable , it means inflammation
