Penial Cystic Lesion 16 month old son

My son is 16 months old and was diagnosed with Nystigmus. The Dr order an MRI. The MRI showed my son had a Penial Cystic Lesion in the 4 th quadrant and it was 8 mm in size. Dr. said it was right near the nerves of his eyes.he has trouble with his left eye going inward, he wears glasses with a patch on his good eye. She ordered that we take him to a Neurologist/neur-surgeon at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. Im really concerned. When he was younger we thought he just had weak eye muscles. Could you explain to me in more detail and in laymens terms about this? It's in the left side of his brain.
   Thanks,

H,
Any verification if it's pineal cystic?  or a  penial cystic lesion?

Hi,
I think you meant a pineal cystic which is located at the pineal gland area and could give visual symptomes...while the penial on is not!

A brief about the pineal gland and area which is also called the pineal body or epiphysis, is one oft last discovered and small endocrine gland in the brain and its the only brain structure that does not come in pairs.
Located between the two hemispheres and the surface is covered by a pial capsule as the the rest of the brain
produces  a hormon called melatonin helps sleep at night, and through its connection with the retinal (inner part of the eye) it can increase melatonin when its dark (night) so you sleep better or decrease when its bright out side (day time so you go to work)
One thing to know that the  gland is large in kids, but shrinks at puberty even calcifies. and why it shrinks in puberty ? it was assumed because melatonine may has a role in sexual development (in different words The abundant melatonin in kids inhibit sexual development)

Sorry I have to stop here (I have to leave to do something) , but I wil be back this afternoon
