visual snow

I have been experiencing visual problems. Not sure whether I will ever get a cure for these symptoms. All these visual symptoms are sudden onset and constant (24x7).This started 6 months back.

Here are the following symptoms
1. Visual snow,2  After-image3. Trails and Palinopsia 4. fequency in seeing stars,5. Starbursts and Halos around bright lights,6. Double vision around bright lights,7. Ringing in ears,8. Floaters

when I wake up in the morning, when I blink ,i see a circular gray area which dissapears quickly.I also see sometimes cob-web like structure in the vision which disappears quickly after the eye blink.Sometimes i feel a thin film covers my eye(any one,ie.. right or left eye at a time)which makes my entire vision blurry.Upon blinking it does away.

I also see a glassy like circular area on both eyes  when I move my eyes towards right, left,up and down.
I recently discoverd that these circles are nothing but blind spots. as I took the blind spot test on computer and found that I do not see anything in those circles.
Also, I see towards my nose and extreme eye edges i see wierd blurry areas. But  i can see objects through these areas.Thay are present in both my eyes at the same areas.
Every day I discover a new symptom and it scares the hell out of me.

The answer to your problems.

Like a ciggerette adiction, when you stop smoking, your body retaliates and produces abnormal symptoms that never existed before...
Now I don't need to ask all of you to know this, but I know that all of you spend alot of time on the computer, or in broad day light for to long, and therefore your eyes when settled experience these unkown visual effects. The ringing of the ear is caused by to much loud sounds that can be given by factory noises, clubbing, and listening to the mp3 player... These are no alarming situations, and there will be no significant evidence to show that there is a problem. The body fixes it self, and it might take awhile to cure the problem. Everyone on earth has visual symptoms, some stronger caused by certain obsessions... but the worst thing to do is raise your anxiety because they can become stronger and take longer to go away.

I have all the same symptoms (including one other---hearing loss of the low tones in 1 ear).  I did not notice the hearing loss until I went to the doctor and was tested.  In any case, all of these symptoms would indicate Basilar Migraine-like phenomenon, including double vision, visual snow, vertigo, neck pain at the base of the skull and throughout the head, and hearing loss of low tones.  This is supposed to be a very, very rare form of migraine.  I have been prescribed topomax for this condition.  I doubt it will help and I am scared to take it because it has some bad side effects.  Basilar migraine is not suppose to occur all of the time, but my symptoms are always there.  So this is why I say that this is a Basilar Migraine like phenomenon.  The symptoms fit with the diagnosis, but it happens all of the time instead of periodically.  Since this is a very rare form of migraine, I had to diagnose myself.  After I came up with the diagnosis, my doctors agreed that this is my problem.  So do your research on this condition and see if it fits for you, then tell your doctor what is wrong with you.  Otherwise, if you find any other answers, I would very, very much appreciate it if you tell me what might be wrong with us.

I've been having the same symptoms for a while now been to the doctors numerous times and they put it all down to anxiety, which is difficult to believe. It scares the hell out of me constantly seeing static in my vision, i also have constant floaters and stars in my vision, and occasionally get tinnitus, so if any of you get any definative answers please let me know....................

Hello,

You sound a lot like me, though I've had visual snow my whole life, along with most of your other symptoms.  I've been to quite a few doctors, and most treat me like I'm nuts when I talk about all this.

If you are interested, here is the link to a forum for people who have visual snow... many of the people there have similar symptoms:

Good luck!

Hello

for a while before his eye became fully black circle with wavy bent lines, he would on occasion see I think a ring and then blurryness.  What finally happened to my husband was that a vessel/s in the eye started leaking enough to cause the situation he is in now.  the current prognisis is very good it just takes about a four month or so waiting period for the eye to try and heal itself.  If the eye does not heal itself after the wating period then they do surgery .  I highly recommend these doctor if you search the website on google for them.  (Dr. Fruend) they are considered tops in their field worldwide.  Good luck and make that appontment.

I have had visual snow my entire life.

I did not realise until my teens that it was unusual and everyone did not see this way. I wanted answers from my Doctors, none could tell me as none of them had ever heard of anyone describing such symptoms.

Later in life an opthalmologist could not answer either, nor the neurologist I saw about another matter when I mentioned it to him.

It is only in the last ten years that I have discovered others who have the same experiences as me, and they are other people on the autistic spectrum.

I liken my experiences to visual tinnitus.

Thanks for your response,
Yes,I did had the blood work done and my sugar level is within normal range.
My blood pressure is around 70/110,Usually on the lower BP range but normal.

The retina specialist dilated the pupil and looked deeply backside of the eye.i.e. he said Optic nerve is healthy and Retina looks good.Same was told by Nuero-Opthamologist.

No,they did not take computer images were not taken after dilation.During Visual field test the computer image was taken though to check the blind spot diameter.

I work in NYC.so I guess if any doctor who is good at diagnosing my symptoms would be very helpful,

I would really appreciate if you can send me those contact numbers in NYC area,

Thanks again for your response.

First of all so sorry with your eyes.  My husband was diangnosed with central serous retinoppath which makes him to see a big black dot and everything within the circle of the black dot  is crooked wavy and bent lines.  The eyes are so important.  First the retina specialist what types of test did they do, were computer images taken of your eye after dialiation, did you have a flursine study done after dialation of the eye.  Were you ever checked for diabetes, high blood pressure etc.  Many things can cause problems with the eye.  I am not sure where you live but in NY they have great Retina specialist.  My husband went to them if you are not in the NY area maybe you can call the office and they can make a recommnedation to you for someone in your state.  Please let me know if you would like the phone numbers.  Best wishes
