I am a 61 yr old male, 5'9", 209 lbs. I have inoperable lower back problems (on morphine), high blood pressure, BPH, GERD, Asthma, VCD and sleep apnea. I have never smoked, drank or done illegal drugs. I have been on morphine 357 days, 90mg a day.
My PCP sent me for neurological testing, it is NOT carpal tunnel.
Mainly my left hand. Little finger does NOT fall asleep. Middle finger seems to be most painful part.
I have read articles stating compression of certain nerves can cause this. When my left hand falls asleep after I am up and moving around, I can rock my head gently back and forth and the hand "wakes up". Painlessly. I can't find this article, but it had about 25 things listed to help people until they can get to a dr.
I feel silly sitting here at home rocking my head back and forth,
but it works.
I had a neurologist, but he seemed to give me neurontin for anything related to nerve problems, so I am looking for a new one. I also use an ergonomic keyboard, at "just the right angle" for my hands, but my left hand is tingling right now, as I type.
What else? I do NOT sleep with my hands over my head, I asked my wife to check it.
I have Central Sleep Apneas, found in my PSG.
My PCP is stumped. I told him about my former neurologist giving me neurontin for nerve problems, but he says he doesn't know any others to recommend, I am looking for a neurologist at this time, but I am not sure what credentials to look for. I don't want to waste my time and money on another pill pusher.
Any suggestions appreciated.
