mass found on my right ovary from an MRI

Thank you so much for having this website available.  I was having an MRI done on my lower back due to pain...the doctor told me that I had three herniated disc with the last one leaking fluid. This was not his main concern, he found a mass7 three inch in diameter. He couldn't tell me much because he said he wasn't a gyn but told me that I needed to get it checked...I would agree but my insurance ended that day 08/31/06. My question is could this be just a normal cyst.
I have had melanomia when I was 17, four years later in 94' I had cervical cancer cells found and removed from a loop and coop I'm not sure which is which or first. Then the cells showed up again in 00' and removed the same way. Due to a hard pregnancy in 02' I had a tubal and the dr accidently cut my intestence twice. I had an effection in my stomach cavity but cleaned pretty good...my new dr was amazing, anyway, I had several cyst pop up during my hosp stay and was drained by a large needle or heavy antibiotic. In 03' I had an hyst. and a hernia repair due to complications. Now with this cyst I have had alot of pain and cramps that feel like contractions at times loose stool yet at times constipated, tired alot. My stomach feels full but I haven't eaten. If I bend over I get very nausiated. I am not sure to pursue this or not because I hear that most cyst are benign (normal). Without insurance I want to be sure that the bad outweights the good before I get an appt. With five kids, one just turned 4, I can't take anything away from them if I don't have to. Should I be concerned or is it just a puspocket.

Praise the Lord!!!
I have found a christian clinic in Mobile, that helps ones without insurance. I went last night to see the dr and this morning I had to go back for blood work and finish qualifing for the program. So I feel that they are taking me and putting me in great hands. They do not have a gyn on hand but the dr. said that she knew of a great one that she will have me go through that donates his time to this program.
Thank you so much, I am not sure I would of found them without your lead for this type of clinic.

May God continue blessing for your time with ones that are concern and need a word of your knowledge to help them on their way,
MeLisa

I apologize for the extra response...
but I wanted to ask...I noticed some little round lumps in different areas of my lower abdomin. Their not sore but they are just there. The only reason I found them is because my left side started hurting last night and I don't have an ovary there...but it is soar to the touch.

Thank you so much
God Bless you,
MeLisa

Sounds like you've had proper check-ups. That's good to hear. Unfortunately there are many doctors who just don't know about melanoma. Sounds like yours did. You definitely have gone a long time with good results. Chances are you have beat it. I might have it checked out just in case. You never know with melanoma. It's known to come back years later. I don't mean to scare you at all. You have made it past the statistical point of beating it. I read your story and feel like it sounds similar to mine, however the responses were got were quite different. I know it is so hard to comment on just one paragraph, especially with people like you and I who apparently have a lot going on. Anyway, I wish you well, but please try to have the red bumps looked at.

It was stage 1 (I think) It was in 90' from a mole on my abdomin from sun bathin. The family dr that saw it immediately took it out and showed me that the mole had a root and the root was black except the end was pinkish white. He sent me to a specialist and he cut around the first incesion and took out my left lympnodes from under my arm and inserted a drain tube in my side. I didn't have to take any chemo or radiation...praise God. I have had three month check ups for a year then six month then yearly the the tenth year and the dr said I was free and clear.

But you know that you can never be to careful...because they said the same thing to me after my first cervical cancer cells found and takin out. they said after five year I will be in good shape...on the sixth year another dr found cancer cells on my cervics. Thank you for pointing that to me.

God bless you,
MeLisa

Hi,

While reading through these questions and comments, I couldn't help but notice your mention of the little round red lumps and the fact that you've had melanoma. I too have melanoma, see my post below yours. What stage was yours? Do you have regular check-ups? I would encourage you to see a derm about the little round lumps. They're probably nothing but should be checked out from the melanoma standpoint.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi There,
You sure have a complicated history. Yes, you absolutely need to be evaluated. Depending on where you live, there are free care options for people in the United States who's income is low and who do not have insurance. You need to find a good gynecologist to help Shepherd you through the possibilities here. Most cysts are benign and that maybe what you have. But I cannot reassure of that without you getting a good and thorough evaluation
best wishes to you.
