ovarian cysts or endometriosis

by S MARY, Oct 21, 2006 12:00AM
I'm not sure if I am in the right forum but at this point theres not much I am not worried about. About 12 wks ago I went to the gyno with lower right abdominal pain and was diagnosed with a cyst that had ruptured with clear fluid. I went back 3 wks later and they found more cysts on my right ovary and a few on my left as well. I was put on birth control and told to come back in 3 to 5 months if the pain persisted. I went back and without any tests they suggested doing a laparoscopy to check for endomertiosis. I don't feel like I have the typical symptoms for endo and am a little hesitant about getting the lap done. I have been having pinching pains on my right and left pelvic region, lower to mid constant back pain, and pain in my upper thighs. The pain is constant throughout the month. Does this sound like endo or could it just be the cysts?

Hi There,

It sounds like your doctor is being thorough and careful. If you have unexplained ovarian cysts that are not going away, a diagnostic laparoscopy can give good information. It is not possible to make a diagnosis of endometriosis without a laparoscopy.

best wishes
