Lower Left Ovary pain

.I have had lower left ovary (or in that area) pain for some time now. Probably over a year. I have been told that I have fibroids in my uterus and also a cyst on the ovary. They pain is constant, but I can live with it as long as I know it is nothing else. I have had an ultrasound, and also had a colonscopy in case the pain was colon related. They removed a large polyp, but otherwise told me again about the multiple fibroids in the uterus. I have wondered if this pain could even be nerve pain of some sort, because I feel it more when I am nervous. Not sure if this is related, but they tell me that my uterus is very tipped. My OB/GYN also put me on birth control pills for a couple of months to see if that would change the pain. She wondered if I had endometriosis. The pain did not change during the 3 months that I was on the pill. I am 45 next month, had 3 normal pregnancies, and my periods had been heavy every couple of months and normal the other months. Now my periods come every 3 months or so and are moderate.
Any other ideas? Thank you.

Dori44Hi There,
how big is your fibroid? Do you have a report with the measurements of it?
If your uterus is large enough, it could be pushing on nerves in the pelvic area. But if it is large enough to do that, it is also large enough to put you at risk for blood clots in your pelvic veins. Blood clots happen when a large growth such as a large ovarian tumor or uterine fibroid pushes on the pelvic veins and blocks normal blood flow. The danger of blood clots is that they can travel to the lungs. That is called a pulmonary embolus and can be fatal.

Not to be an alarmist, but those are my thoughts in that direction. You may have pain for other reasons such as musculoskeletal, a hernia, or irritable bowel syndromw. I do not think pain is normal and can be lived with. It is a warning sign. So the reason should be identified.

best wishes to you.
