Fallopian cancer and unusual swelling

by rauni, May 27, 2007 12:00AM
Hi:

6 months after my hysterectomy (no debulking, or other surgery done) when fallopian tube cancer tumour Grade 3 was discovered, I had chemo.  This was stopped after 2 sessions because the pain made it difficult to walk, then I had 7 radiations.

My breasts swell during the day and my stomach is still swollen.  My gp referred me to my oncologist and my oncologist referred me back to my gp?  My check up catscan is June 7th.
Before the op I kept swelling and swelling and was told it was my fault I was overweight but since the op my face is no longer puffy and quite thin so I am worried that the breast swelling is a sign of cancer.  Can you comment please.

Many thanks Rauni

Dear Rauni,
I understand your fears. However, it is hard to comment without more data. You need a CA 125 blood test, an exam, and a CT scan. Those tests will help explain if there is any sign of cancer. Swelling can occur for many reasons, including:
thyroid imbalance
protein malnutrition
cardiovascular disease such as heart failure
bowel disorders.

I am glad you are being evaluated. write down your questions so that you can go through your concerns carefully with your doctor.

best wishes

To: doctor
Thank you for your prompt, invaluable advice.  I will ask the gp to test these other areas when Ive had my catscan.  I do have bowel problems.
