multiloculated cyst with nodule

by sitagange, Jun 15, 2003 12:00AM
Dear Doctor,

I had a very abnormal ultrasound 3 months ago.  It showed multiple cysts in my left ovary, fallopian tubes and cervix.  My gynocologist ordered an MRI, which showed a 5 cm cyst in my left ovary and benign looking cyst in my cervix.  Two months later I had another MRI and this time, the ovarian cyst, which is multiloculated with multiple septations shows a small area that might be suspicious, like a nodule.  I had a CA-l25 test which was normal.  I am 47 and began my first period irregularities about 6 months ago.  I am seeing an oncologist gynocologist surgeon soon.  Does this sound like ovarian cancer?  My doctor said I will probably have to have my left ovary removed and he also thinks the oncologist surgeon may want to remove both ovaries and my uterus.  I would rather take this one step at a time, however.  Do you have any advice?  Just fyi, I am very cystic. I have already had two benign breast surgeries for cysts and a fibroadenoma.  Is a nodule on a cyst something to be concerned about?  Thank you for answering my many questions.

Kind regards,

Sita Gange

I was recently in a car accident, therefore I opted to take an M.R.I.  it came back and said I had a multiloculated cyst and a cyst that may represent a hydrosalpinx, that is 4.7 centimeters. I am 19 yrs old and I am still a virgin I am very much so confused right now about what all this means. The thing I am really worried the most about out  right now is that I will never be able to have the chance to have children, and that is something I have always looked forward to, me being so young right now this is really alot for me to swallow. I went to my OB/GYN and now I have an appointment to have a transabdominal ultrasound done. I would really appreciate if I could get a little more information about this situation and what are the chances that I will be able to conceive later on in life.
