Complex mass follow up

Hi Girls - I haven't posted for a while (Jan. 03).  I went to a second gyn. the first week of Jan.  He asked me about previous surgeries (3 C-sections and a hysterectomy at age 30).  Am now 44 and did have problems with hysterectomy recovery.  I don't recall the surgeon at that time telling me anything about what the complications were (ie. endometriosis or anything like that, but I did have some sort of infection and was kept in the hospital for about 11 days) Anyway, the new gynecologist indicated that a cystic and solid mass may have been on my ovary for some time.  He is concerned about doing a laparatomy because I probably have a lot of scar tissue (his words were that because of the scar tissue this surgery cabn be "quite a  daunting task. (am overweight as well).  He didn't seem too concerned about the mass and doesn't want to do the surgery for a couple of months.  The more I think about this, the more it bothers me.  Any thoughts on this.  First gyn. I went to in November also said that because the mass is only 4 cm. he wanted to leave it for three or four months.  Well, we're just about at the 4 months.  Not sure what to do at this point.  Just looking for some feedback.

I don't know what to say...I'm new here but if I were you I would have them remove the cysts.  Can you go to a specialist? or are these doctors specialists in this field?

This 2nd gyn. delivered all three children by C-section (youngest is 16) and I really liked him - He certainly asked lots of questions when I saw him a couple of weeks ago.  He was not the gyn. who did the hyst. (I had someone closer to home do that as I didn't forsee any complications).  I have to say both my hubby and I were impressed by all the questions - he seemed very thorough - it's just that from what I've ready on many, many web sites, that when there's a complex mass it shouldn't be a wait and see.  He's not really saying that, he just said that the surgery wasn't urgent and that he would do it in a couple of months.  I haven't heard back from his office as to when it might be.  I certainly don't want to be a pest, but am not sleeping, and am worried - Yes, he's the specialist, maybe I'm just being impatient?

I might be an impatient person, but; if you call a plummer to fix a pipe in your bathroom and he says he'll call you in a couple of months to let you know when he will be able to fit you in??!!!Hmm..... Wouldn't you call someone else?  Are you not as important to yourself and family as the pipes in your bathroom?
I wonder if he would let someone put his wife or daughter off for two months or more??  I think not!
I think it might be time to find a different plummer!
Now, seriously. please consider the fact that you will be better off if you get a surgeon who specializes in gyn/oncology to do your surgery; so, maybe you are lucky the surgery has been put off this long.
Take care, and good luck.
Peace to you and your family.   dian
