A 5 cm annoyance

by gi disaster, Jul 06, 2003 12:00AM
I have recently been in the hospital at the Cleveland Clinic's South Pointe Hospital(06/12/03-06/15/03), and among many other things, such as a white cell count of 16,000, glucose level of 485 and elevated liver enzymes, they discovered a 5.5 cm abdominal mass on my right ovary.  The pain in my pelvis has gotten much worse.  Everything gi related has been ruled out. The only thing left is this 5.5 cm cyst. Sine 06/12/03 I have been running a low grade fever of 100+, and severely dehydrated with severe ab pain.  COULD this cyst, (which they are unsure if it is one or two) be causing this and why won't they remove it? In addition,I am 40 years old, in good health, but I have not had a period since 04/21/03. A few years back I had a the same situation, again with the right ovary, but the cysts were not that large, nor were the blood counts as bad as they were this time.
