Does the constipation get worse?

I had my fourth chemo.  I found that the constipation seems to be getting worse with each chemo.  Is this the same for everyone?  It this scary only because the constipation symtom is what found the OVCA in the first place....

Hello terrin - I think everyone is different so your question may be true for some but not others.  From what I know and my own experience the chemo does upset the colon and bowel so the results can be uncomfortable - constipation, looseness, wind etc.  Have you asked for some serious laxatives to help you ie from your specialist nurse or doctor?  They are only too happy to help and have heard it all before.  Being uncomfortable during chemo from constipation is no joke I know, but if your chemo is being effective I wouldn't necessarily link it to your pre-treatment constipation.  Have you tried all the suggestions - extra fluid, prune juice, foods like lentils, spinach, figs, suppositories etc?
