I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to wait. Sorry that you didn't quite get the news you wanted but at least you have a plan and know what's going on...sometimes that alone is a relief. I'm having surgery the day after you! We can recover together! =)
Don't blame you either. May 16 is my 25th wedding aniversary - must be a good sign!!! Will they do it with an abdominal incision or lap? If it is abdominal it will be six weeks really before any serious workout. I had an abdominal incision to remove my uterus about ten years ago and was out walking two miles about a week and half later. But nothing more than that for the six weeks. There are others here who have had it more recently though and can answer. You are in my prayers!
My surgery will be a laparotomy because of all my previous abdominal surgeries and scarring. I feel much safer this way and there is less of a chance of bleeding (I am on blood thinners) according to my doc.

I am a little over 5 weeks post TAH and feeling really well. I suspended my gym membership for a total of 5 months, thinking that I would surely be ready to get right back into it by then! I am just doing gentle exercise at the moment .... walking. I see my specialist in a couple of weeks, and I'll be asking about when I can start doing a bit of weight training again. I would imagine that he will probably say I could go back to the gym earlier than the 5 months if I wanted to, but I'd like to be sure I'm doing the best by my body for the years to come. I'd imagine you would have to wait quite some time before being able to aptly swing a club back on the golf course, but I'm only guessing!!
Well, soon it will all be behind you. We will wait here with you until then.

Hey Dawn I just saw your post from the other day about us being close to each other. I am in Naperville - I go through Indi all the time on my way to Ohio were I am from!
Glad you have your surgery scheduled. Getting the plan together is half the battle.
I had a "big ole" incision, but surprisingly...at least to me...I healed from surgery very quickly. I had my share of aches and pains, but nothing like what I thought it would be. The chemo is what dragged me down. Not sure too many people feel like running a marathon after a chemo treatment, however. That's one of those bridges you cross when you get there, though. We'll all think positively and look forward to you joining the 99% club!

You were in my thoughts today on the way to my appointment. Congratulations on at least getting a plan going. It will all be over soon, right??
Good luck with everything,
Julie
