hey there!!i had a abdominal hysterectomy in jan...the abcess set up in my incision, and has now worked its way into my abdominal wall, through my facia, into my muscles...and built a nice tunnel for itself..which my docs are saying thats where the fistula comes in...after my second surgery, they left my incision open, and i am now being packed 2 times a day..my 3 surgery is this week, and im hoping to god they get all the infection(its mrsa),and i hope that they can close me up cause this packing **** is for the birds..im not sure if i read on your post or not,ar eyou having surgery yourself this week for it????also...do you know how they repair these fistulas??ive asked, but noone seems to know, and i was to chicken to ask my doc..lol...keep me posted please..it nice when you can talk with others who are in the same exact situation......sonie

sonie if you dont mind me asking, where was your abscess and where is your fistula? I have an open abdominal wound right now and my doctor is worried about me forming a fistula.  I had an abscess in my colon and it was drained, but after they removed the drain i developed an infection on my abdominal wall.  Now air is being passed through my wound and last night and this morning its been bleeding a lot.  Im debating on going to the ER.  Well anyway, happy easter.  Surgery and open wounds really suck.

whatfiftybucks..my ct scan also showed subcutanious air in my abdomin, and reactive changes in my subcutanious tissues...is this the same type of air you have also in yours??if it is,what did they tell you it was?ive been told by several people that subcutanious air is like a gas gangrene(Yuck)....sonie

OK,  Sonie, thank you for stopping in with an update.  I was worrying about you.    In fact, these days I mostly stop by just to see how a few members of the Battalion are doing!  I truly pray that this surgery will solve your problem, and you can recover, completely, and SOON.
