time between ultrasounds

Hi, here's my summary:
1999: had hysterectomy for adenomyosis, had adhesions, stage 3 endo on right ovary, kept the good part as well as the other ovary.

Recently, feel pressure in lower abdomen, think endo is back on ovaries or is it adhesions? Bladder feels achy, pressure,  frequency way up, constipation becoming a hassle.

12/2005: GP refers me to gyn, he sets me up for TVUS on 1/11 and puts me on Detrol for the bladder. Get back to eating "zonefully" and get the constipation sort of situated. I find out that cottage cheese does me a world of good in this regard......??hmmm?? Still have pressure, sort-of frequency and aches though.

4/18/06: felt so much better that I told the gyn I don't think it was endo, I don't want the followup TVUS. He says yes, I have a septated cyst on left ovary, about 2.2cm, get TVUS set up, and followup with him one week later. I have never heard of such a cyst, see it in the ovca forums and now become a research hound.

4/24/06: Detrol seems to not really help. The new TVUS report says my cyst is still the same, dr. can't tell if it's a bunch of follicles or one cyst; the tech had told me it's bleeding in on itself. I told the dr. that if a functional cyst doesn't resolve in 60 days, isn't that a concern. He says no, we'll do some blood work to see if I'm going through menopause, and get a new TVUS in July.

I see on the paper that he wants to check for FSH, LH and estradiol AND.....CA 125! I know this test has 4 possible outcomes and is not a screening test.

Is this too long to wait for resolution?! From 1/11 to 4/18 with no change?

If you are at all uncomfortable around your doctor, find a new one.  You need to feel 100% comfortable around your doctor.  If it does come down to surgery, you want someone who you can count on and who is sympathetic to your situation.  Unlike these other women who have had great experiences with their gyn/onc, I had a terrible experience with the one I saw ( I think that this is not the norm with gyn/onc's).  He did not spend much time with my husband and me.  He had not even looked over my chart before he came into the room.  To make a long story short, he wanted me to start Lupron shots for an endometrial cyst.  I had just seen my regular gyn a couple of days before and she was just as sure that it was not an endo. cyst.  Since the onc.  did not seem to have time for us, I went back to my gyn and told her what was going on.  She took my ultrasound pictures and showed them to another surgeon (the onc. did not even want to see them), and he agreed that it was not endo.  I had surgery a week later to remove the cyst and ovary, and she was right, NO ENDO. CYST :)  I am telling you all of this because I was so uncomfortable with the onc. that I went for a third opinion.  Do what is right for you!!  I hope this helped a little.  Kasie

Yes, please get a 2nd opinion.  Try to go to a gyn/onc.  Not because it could be ovca, but that they are specialists in the female reproductive area and have seen it all.  They will make sure you get the care you need.  The ca125 is not a reliable test for premenopausal women.  Also, anything going on in there could cause an elevated level.  Please remember that 99% of ovarian cysts are benign.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

Kasie: I've only met with this gyn 3 times; the first 2 I felt he was listening to me and did appreciate his insistence on checking the septated idea. But this last visit, when I complained that the Detrol seemed to not be working as I'd had to use the bathroom 5 times between 6:30-9:30 AM (that particular day!), he thinks it's because I can't handle the caffeine from my morning cup of tea, as I'm "getting older now." (my husband and I share one tea bag, not like I'm drinking high octane java!)So now I am starting to feel stupid around him.

Hudson: I'm 44 years old. I was a late bloomer, getting my first period at age 15, don't know if I would have gotten meno later as well. I have been getting night sweats the past year or so, so something is changing in me. Just no periods to gauge it by.

Gatsby: I've been reading here for a couple of weeks and smiled when I got your welcome message, you are very supportive to everyone.

If you feel that this to long to wait, get a second opinion.  It never hurts to see what another doctor has to say.  Do you feel comfortable with your doctor?  Remember that you know your body best, and if you feel that it is to long to wait, tell your doctor so.  I'll be praying for you.  I hoped this helped a little.  Kasie
