ovarian cancer and Hep C

Wow I can't believe I found this.  ok have 2 med probs, I am 45 and was just getting ready to start treatment for Hep C last week, (young and dumb, tattoos) the same day my liver dr calls and said CT turned out great for liver but get ahold of your gyn asap and don't start treatment.  Gyn got me in that day and did ultrasound in office friday, he said I have tumor 8.66 x 6.68 cm on the only ovary I have left.  Had Hysterectomy 2 years ago. He is refering me to oncologist (4 hrs away) to remove just in case it is cancer.  also reading about all the symptoms for ov cancer I have had a lot of them for the last year. gas, bloating, I look a good 4-5 mos preggers, irritating pain in the ovary area. so now I am really scared. Today will get results of ca125 and new CT scan done yesterday. I am scared to death I already have one major prob... But stop you have another one too!! I give up.  I tried to get ahold of cancer treatment places for info but everyone was gone for the weekend. if it is ovarian C does anyone know if the chemo for cancer will have any effect on the hep C? I read that the chemicals for hep c was derived from cancer chemo. And where does one in a very small town get support for going thru this.

Hi there!
I know wiser and more experienced Cysters will be along shortly to counsel you, so let me just say what a myriad of them will subsequently say again: do not jump the gun on thinking you necessarily have OVCA. Many of the ovarian cancer symptoms you describe can also be associated with benign masses. Your doctor is merely being prudent in advising you to see an oncologist -- that is pretty much the best way to go whenever there is even suspicion of malignancy.

However, no matter what does turn up on your tests, you will find plenty of support and love here -- good advice too. So welcome!

Thank you so much for your comments.  In the last week I feel as if I have been steam-rollered with all this. The only good thing is that The Hosp my dr is sending me to is a women's hospital in a major teaching university city.  So I feel great about that.  And my liver specialist is in the same system 4 blocks away. So I know if they have to they can work together.
