ultra sounds and CT w § w/out contrast results

by Jillianrenee, Nov 09, 2003 12:00AM
On Oct 6th I was sent to have an ultrasound on my left side and they ended up doing transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds?  From that the I was requested to come in on the 7th for a pelvic ultra sound then the same day the 7th sent to another facility that offered CT scan.  Note:  Aug 14 2000 I had a partial hysterectomy (uterus and cervix removed )due to hyperplasia of the uterus.  Below is what reflected on the report.

This 7cm lesion is primarily cystic with multiple internal septations, no enhancing nodular components are evident.  This apparently corresponds to a reported complex left ovarian mass described on a pelvic ultrasound examination performed at a different facility dated 10/06/03.  No free fluid collections are evident.  No abnormalities are identified of the bones and soft tissues.

Impression:

There is a 7cm cystic lesion in the left adnexal region with multiple enhancing internal septations.  This could possibly represent a hemorrhagic cyst and followup in 4 weeks with pelvic ultrasound is advised.  However if there has been no change in the appearance of this lesion at that time, surgical removal is advised as ovarian malignancy remains a definite possibility with a complex lesion of this size.

I lost my grandmother and two of her sisters due to breast cancer and my father 3 years ago due to tonsil cancer.

If there is no change and the dr wants to put me on birth control pills what would you suggest?  If still 7 cm can they remove with Lyproscopy or will it have to be c-section type removal?
