post surgery mass found

hi all i wonder if anyone can help with this new problem. mum (stage 3 ovca), had full op and everything removed approx. 9 weeks ago. has had a lot of tummy pain since, took her to emergency room yesterday as she was doubled over in pain from right side of abdomen, has had x-ray bloods and ultrasound done, doc will be seeing her in the morning, the docs have said they have found a mass at appendix area, she has been put on anti-biotics, what could this be??, an infection on appendix? post surgery problems? surely it cant be a growth so soon after surgery, all her obs and bloods are great, has anyone any info on this matter please?? thanking you in advance.

Was her appendix removed during the other surgery?  If not, then there is a great chance that her appendix is inflammed or infected.  And even if the appendix was removed, there is still a chance of infection and inflammation.   Unless your mother has an extremely aggressive form of cancer, then it is more likely to be a result of the surgery, or perhaps more clearly I should state, "the healing process after the surgery."

When does your mum next see her gyn or onco?
