any ideas

by beth1959, Feb 11, 2004 12:00AM
hello,

I have a functional cyst on the right ovary. I had a ca125 in conjunction with a trans vaginal ultra sound last February 2003. The radiologist confirmed this to be a "functional cyst" and the ca 125 was a 10. The Gyn nurse who called me with the results said nothing else was needed to be done.  The pain I felt subsided and I have been fine until 5 days ago. The right sided pain returned out of the blue, feels like menstrual cramps. I have had back pain, leg pain and occasional gas only in the last 5 days.  The pain ebbs and flows.  I have had a hysterectomy for ca in situ of cervical cancer back in 1989. I am 44. I live in constant, horrible,  fear of cancer.  Should I be concerned about ovarian cancer?  No family history although I am very overweight. This doctor last year said I am overweight to the point that this last doctor said no one could ever tall anything was wrong with me I am so fat. I have an appointment with a gp tommorow and am terrified.

any help appreciated,

beth

Thank You so very much!

I did not realize you can have functional cysts over and over although I know they occur with ovulation, duh!  I have not had a uterus since 1988 and do not have a clue what or when a normal cycle is to know what is normal and what isn't. Can lifting something heavy or strenous sex (no pain from or during) bring on this type of ovarian pain? Do functional cysts come on suddenly like this ?
