Bloating from ovarian cyst

I've read a lot of post and I don't hear many people talking about having such big tummies like mine. I'm normally a size 2/3. I have an ovarian cyst but I look like I'm 4 or 5 months pregnant. My feet swell. I can not wear my clothes and I'm miserable. I have no pain only very seldom I feel a little something. Is the big stomach normal. And Please if anyone knows ...IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO DECREASE THE BLOATING?  My cyst is about 10cm but I know this is not causing all of the stomach size because it fluctuates. Please help. I really only want to look pregnant if I am. Thanks
Also, I had my ultrasound completed.  If it looked like there were solid parts would they have done more testing?

Welcome!  I had 2 softball sized dermoids along with my left ovary and 90% of my right ovary removed 12/21/05.  I too suffered from the bloating.  This can be caused by the fluctuating hormone levels.  This is due to the fact that the cyst is disrupting normal ovarian activity and can cause hormonal changes.  Are you scheduled for surgery to remove the cyst?  If it is a dermoid, it needs to be removed as these types of cysts do not resolve on their own and if left can become malignant.  Please do not ignore your symptoms.  Get medical attention.  If your present dr. will not take care of this, please get a 2nd opinion with a gyn/onc.  They are specialists and have seen it all.  You are in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed

Hello and welcome to the site!  There are many women here to help answer your questions, and get you through any tough times (whether it is the dreaded waiting, or getting you through a diagnosis).

I have a 4.2x3.1x3.5 cm dermoid on my right ovary and have experienced a huge range of 'weird' symptoms that initially were thought to be from another illness.  Thankfully after numerous tests, I was given a clean bill of health (with the exception of my dermoid) and now have a surgery date.

Dermoids, in case you are not familiar, are nasty cysts that typically have calcification (such as teeth or bone) and other 'germ cell' tissues.  They are 99% benign but must be removed as they do not go away on their own.  Typically other cysts, assuming they are simple cysts may resolve by themselves, but it is always wise to watch over them.

Feet swelling, severe bloating, back pain, abdominal pain, shoulder pain, nausea, weight gain, acne, urinary problems, and intestinal problems are all symptoms that the various women on this site have experienced with ovarian cysts.

In my particular case, I normally look 6-7 months pregnant now, have constant ankle & feet swelling, and have gained 20lbs although I cannot eat very much.

Your best bet is to follow up with your doctor and make sure that other possible illnesses are ruled out.

Take care!

Thank you so much. Knowing that you've been given a clean bill of health other than the cyst and that you are also experiencing similar symptoms at least lets me know it is possible that my symptoms are normal.

Good luck and God bless to you all!
Everyone here is in my prayers

Hi, I found a few posts regarding the problem with bloating that you mentioned.
Here are the ones that might help you out. Sorry I can't help you further.

Although these aren't links, you will see the threads a few posts down from here. It seems to me that bloating is a symptom of a type of ovarian cyst called a dermoid. And, I hope I have that spelled right. If you don't get more responses, I suggest posting later this week. Sometimes things are quiet here on the weekends and then the posts get "lost" as they move further down.

Take care, Mary
