hi i was diagonesed with ovarian cyst 2 years ago. the doctor sent me to do an ultrasound but because of family issues i did not do so. i moved from where i was living and recently went to a new gyn and she told me there is no cyst but whenever me and my boyfriend having sex he keeps telling me that he feels something like a ball. i am feeling no pains. do you think it is one of those complex cyst being that it has been around for so long.
i agree with marianne, be proactive ,if you need treatment a year is along time to wait. i had a 2 to 3 cm cyst in january this year, i was told that this could be normal and 40% of women my age (45)have small cysts and they go away on their own, but some cysts dont go away and can get bigger and need to be removed or they can cause further problems. i was told they recheck in 4 months to see if it had grown.in june my scan showed it had grown and that it looked like a dermoid cyst (it can have other material in it other than just fluid). it was removed 2 weeks ago it was about 5 cms. i am waiting for the histology to come back.i am not concerned that it will be ca, 99%of this type of cyst are benign but i woulnt want to take even the smallest of chances.i would say get regular checks.
1.6 cm is small, but they didn't specify what type of complex. Complex just means that it's not just a plain fluid-filled cyst. Complex means they can see walls or something within the cyst. It could be a hemmhoragic cyst (a normal corpus leutem cyst that doesn't break to release the egg so it ends up bleeding into itself), a dermoid, or an endometrial cyst (and they can't rule out the endometrial cyst without looking since I had no endo, history of endo, or anything even relating to endo, except for the nice big endometrial cyst they found:)
A hemmhoragic cyst will go away on it's own. The others do not. They probably want to monitor it to see if it grows or goes away. A year seems a little too long, though. Did you see a gynocologist? Normally cyst-monitoring is done every month, sometimes every two. If you haven't seen a gyn, I'd suggest going. They are the reproductive area specialists, and will monitor more closely. They are also the ones you want around if you have to have surgery to remove it if necessary.
Keep being proactive in your treatment!
Hang in there, and keep us posted!
