The CA125 is not an accurate test for pre menopausal women. However it is used as a tumor marker once ovca has been dx. Many things can elevate the ca125..such as ovarian cysts, infections, etc.

Thanks to all of you who have made comments! I appreciate the advise and will not take it lightly! I did find out that my CA-125 is normal, but for some reason, I'm still worried. How accurate is the CA-125?
I too would make an appt with a gyn/onc. I didn't think birth control actually shrunk cysts only prevented new ones?? Be proactive and don't wait esp. with your family history. Good luck and try not to worry...I know it's difficult.
i have had 2 dermoids and both felt hard, i could palpate them myself and one of them felt like a tennis ball!these are benign, as are 99% of cysts. you are not being silly worrying, i certainly do, i am hoping to get my path results tomorrow, and whilst i know its unlikely to be a problem the fears are still there until you are told otherwise. i am also a RN and i have gained so much knowledge from the ladies on this site and support, it is a totally different experience from a patients perspective. good luck, sharon.
I also think your situation warrants a CT scan. Plus I totally agree that you should be evaluated by a gyn/onc. If you are to proceed to surgery statistics show that the outcome is overwhemlingy better if performed by a gyn/onc.
You are not allowed to feel silly when it comes to being proactive in your health care!
It could possibly be a dermoid, which, depending on what's contained in it, could feel 'hard'. Dermoids can have teeth and hair in them....
A CT scan would give a slightly better idea of the area, what may be in or around it, and would ease your mind a little. :)
Hang in there, and keep us posted!

You would be wise in seeking a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc. Not only because of your family history, but also they are specialists in women's gyn issues and have seen it all. Although 99% of ovarian cysts are benign, please do not ignore your symptoms.

Honestly, I would have a CT scan immediately, and go to a gyn/oncologist who specializes in Cancer and knows what they are looking for, especially with your family history. Best wishes to you. Please check back and let us know.
