Thanks.....this is fun and I needed it.  I came here in June when I thought I can OVCA and I didn't, but I just can't leave.  You all are so wonderful and such inspirations!

Now enough of that mushy stuff........I don't have Bruschetta, but I do have Baby Brie......Ok now I am hungry!

ushy stuffs OK, as long as we all realize the need for balance, like hot tubs and virtual cocktails and, mmmmm Brie!  I have always known that imagination is important!  This is funk proof enough!  Sorry no Cyber parties in June, I am gone most weekends in the summer but anyone can start a Cyber Party!  You proved that Shawn.  So, we already have a Shawn P, or maybe we don't, I'm old!  So just in case, what's you middle name?  Mines Eileen, not as common as Mary in the Irish Catholic community I grew up in.  MV

The Shawn P was me....some how I lost my original sign in info so I resigned up as sdp--my middle name is Delaine!  Ugh!
My adopted mother, bless her heart, had to give me two odd names.  She couldn't just stick with one! LOL

Speaking of bar......I do have fresh lime and salt too!

How far are you from Jackson, TN?  We are going up after the first of the year to visit family and my fiance wants to go to Kentucky while we're up that way.  I've toured Kentucky when I worked for AAA and it was one of the best trips they sent me on.  I swear I never drank so much bourban.....Mint Julips were handed to us everywhere! LOL

Well don't let it go to wastE!  I'll trust your judgement Shawn, what are we having?  I like your middle name, being a Shawn I doubt you understand what its like being one of many Katies or Marys!  Sencond names are usually required!  There were six Marys in my 1st grade class so all the Nuns insisted on callus by Mary Whatever!  Weel, of course, these first graders had never heard the good old Irish name"Eileen" so I got Oh Mary Ilean over the garbage can and equally lame 1st grade humor!  If Mel is around, I was called Mel as well because of the preponderousness of Marys since those were my initials as a single women.  It fit me too! But Rave fits better and I like it when yall call me that!  There's a story behind it.  MV

Yes, you are right about the common names.  My sister and I were always upset when we were kids because they didn't have the personalized license plates for our bikes back then.  Her name was Tanya....anyway.....they make have them in all the names now. I know it's silly now, but when your 8 years old you want one.  Well, I am 41 now and I have one! LOL  My oldest brother bought one for me on my 40th as a joke, but it's on my bike.

I'll be thinkin' of all of you gals up in the cold while I am sunning on the beach next week.  I've packed plenty of sunblock so I won't over do it.

I'm about 2 hours from Jackson, Shawn.  I live in far west Kentucky really close to TN, IL, and MO.  I was just down that way a couple of weeks ago.  Some friends and I went down to Savannah, close to the Shiloh Battlefield.  I am close enough to Jackson that my cable company has one of their network TV stations on my cable...lol.  If you get the chance, I'd love to come meet you!

I talked to Wubbie a little while ago, and we have our meeting set up for tomorrow.  I wish there was a way every one of us could meet.

Jeeze Loise, promise to edit next time, but it kind of feels good not to!  I just came off of 2.5 months of straight writing,  I have to think about mundane things like that all the time!  So if yall see me typo!  It is a sign of relaxation!  That's a good thing!  Anyway Katie, OMG, I got the Tickets!  I am going to Seger!  I am so psyched!  Whoo Whoo!  MV

That's great.  I wish we could all meet some day too.  Maybe we should write to Oprah???  Of course it would all be for OVCA awareness, but what if??  Give her a big hug from me.

Katie already knows the story so for my new Cysters...
Years ago, just after HS, I joined the Air Force.  Almost a year before they opened the "non-tradition jobs: to women.  !(&^ to be exact.  So I joined the reserves at first to wait out the real opportunities in active duty.  Reserves means you commit to one weekend a month and two weeks training whenever.  I figured if I hated the military, I could tolerate once a month, compared to cramps, a walk in the park!  So I went to basic the first time under the old segragated rules.  Our uniforms wer different, we didn't run the confidence course (obstacle course like the guys) we went to make-up clas.  We didn't fire the M16, we went to "Protocol" class.  Way demeaning. Then, in late 76 it all changed.  I was in Tech school in San Antonil for Dietary specialist,in Military speak, that means chow hall cool in a Mil. Hospital.  Opprotunities were limited in the seventies for women.  When Congress opened the Non-trad jobs to us, I went from Reserve to active duty, like switching from one branch to another. At that time it meant I went back to Basic Training, a nightmare for anyone who has been.  But it was a breathe of fresh air to me.  We wore the same unifors as the men, we went to all the same training and no more bullshit classes like make-up and protocol obviously designed as busy-work.  Whoo Hoo!  I went into avionics, worked B52s and F4 Fighter Jets.  The systems I worked onwere called Electronic Warfare Systems,  Big Fuzzbusters for Aircraft is what they were but afforded me some of the most intense Electronics training in the Military.  The mascot for ECM was the Raven.  Our Trucks were called Raven1, Raven2, whether I was stationed in Califoria or Germany.  Consistancy is comforting.  I am RavenLady because Iwas the first in that field, I blazed the trail on the flightline for the women who followed after me.  Wierd thing was, I expected the **** from the old dogs, but we got it from those our own age, that would be a mere 19 or 20.  Go Figure!  I carried a Buck knife to cut into panels on the aircraft but when any young you know what misbehaved, I introduced them to Buck.  That and being almost six feet tall myself usually instructed the male individual that he might be more educated in the future.  Had to take care of my Gals!  So you asked Katie, tried to keep it short but its Shawn Ps fault, told you she runs a mean bar!  MV

Oooo, yes Vixen, I'll have some fondue, please!!  That sounds so good.  I have some bananas in my hotel room, and those would go well, too!  Not sure how the chocolate would go with a melonball, but I'm willing to try it!
