What is 'daughter cysts' mean?

by leewee, Mar 21, 2004 12:00AM
I am 43 years old. Left ovary removed four years ago because a mass. On 1/20/04 I had a pelvic ultrasound and found a complex cyst of right ovary measuring 2.5 x 1.7 x 1.7 cm. On 3/5/04 second ultrasound found this cyst enlarged to 3.2 x 2.3 x 2.6 cm. This is predominantly a fluid texture, but contains at least two thin septations and or "daughter cysts". No solid nodules are seen. My doctor did not order blood test. He suggested removing this cyst with ovary. My questions:

1. Is this kind of complex cyst malignancy?

2. Are any tests available to determine this cyst malignancy or benign before surgery to remove it?

3. Is any chance I can keep my right ovary?

3. What kind of surgery is best if I want to keep my right ovary?

Thank you very much!
