Halfway through Opinion

by Derek S, Jun 28, 2004 12:00AM
Dear Sir,

My wife is halfway through the Icon5 trial.

She has had four treatments so far of:

Topotecan (3 days every 3 weeks)

Carboplatin (1 treatment every 3 weeks)

She now moves onto:

4 treatments of Taxol And Carbo (Every 3 weeks).

We received the latest results of the CA125 and halfway CT scan:

The CA125 has more or less stayed the same at 55 (60 before 1st chemo) - Doctor said there is no upward trend visible and more or less stable at 55 plus or minus 5 (Pre surgery was 250).

The halfway CT Scan shows no change from initial scan post surgery and prior to 1st chemo.

With no tumours shown (Confident they got it all) on the CT Scan and only 1 lymph node shown enlarged at 2cm.

This has not grown and no new areas are shown.  She has no symptoms from anything cancerwise.

My question is:

1. Is this good results?

2. Will the Taxol be more efficent at reducing the CA125 <35 than the topotecan?

3. Would you recommend contiuning with current treatment regime?

Once again many thanks for the excellent service.

Derek
