biopsy versus removal

I have a hypoechoic lesion on my ovary along with the many symptoms of ovca including an elevated ca125. Based on every thing I have researched, and friends( cancer survivors)suggest i should as just to have it removed. Is it true that if they go in to biopsy the suspicious lesion,and it is cancerous, that it could spread the cancer? Is there truly any point in doing a biopsy if this is a risk? I see a gynocologist tomorrow and in my mind,i want it removed. From what i understand, the only way to absolutely confirm malignancy is biopsy or removal. Is there any point in doing any other testing, if this is the only way to verify and give myself peace of mind?

I am confused. Isn't there such thing as a benign ovarian neoplasm?

Although the word "neoplasm" is frequently used to refer to cancer, it does not necessarily refer to cancer. The word means "new growth" and can refer to a benign tumor.
