Surgery

by paintlady, Aug 23, 2004 12:00AM
I have written once a few weeks ago, I was DX on a CT with

a left ovarian cyctic lesion. Due to other symptoms/or abnormal blood work, high white count, sed rate etc. I was sent to

an oncologist @ CCF, who is very nice.  He did do a pet scan which showed Potential malignancy in left ovarian lesion.

I have seen my OB who is doing surgery on Friday to remove my left ovary and cyct.  The Ultra sound showed that this was a follicle cyct.  I am not sure what report to believe, is it a cyct or cancer? My OB does not take much stock in the PET scan results but he says he has to take a look.  I have heard that PET scans are about 80% accurate and have also heard other opinions that it can have many false positives. How accurate are the PET Scans?  Also I had a Hysto 3 years ago, this will be my last ovary they are removing on Friday, so I will starting have hot flashes....
