hypoechoic lesion no longer there

by concerned canuk, Aug 29, 2004 12:00AM
I recently had a follow up trans vag u/s to see if there were any changes to a hypoechoic lesion on my left ovary after 2 months of being on the bcp. The technician indicated that there was nothing there other than regular folicles and i am scheduled to see my ob/gyn this week prior to a scheduled laparoscopy to investigate this ovary lesion. I had an elevated ca125 (62- 69)as well, but have not had recent bloodwork to see if the bcp has had an impact on this as well.

Do you think it is likely that i no longer have anything to be concerned about? What are the chances that the technician missed something on the ultrasound? The tech who did the u/s seemed less thorough and took alot less time exploring than the person who did the first trans vag i had done. I am not looking for something to be wrong, but though the pain i have been having seems to be less( since on the pill),but i still have some and the bloating. I have read other peoples stories in this forum and there seems to be incidences of suspicion on one ovary and when surgery nothing there and something on the other ovary that did not show up on ultrasound. I guess i am concerned that something could still be wrong. Is there any point in pursuing a laparoscopy if the u/s now says nothing is there and is it possible that there is something that did not show up on the u/s?

Just wanted to let you know that i disagree with the nurse you should still have them take a look inside just to be sure. On July 28th my doctor ordered a transvag ultrasound to see if a complex cyst had gotten any bigger after one and a half years of following on ultrasound and i to ask the tech if it had gotten any bigger she also stated to me the cyst or mass was not visible and my results came back normal but i was smart, i went to the er three days after the ultrasound and they did a ct scan that revealed a 3.4 cm mass, if i wouldnt have followed up myself my doctor actually told me everything came back normal after he got thru telling me all was good i pulled out copies of the er report needless to say i was scheduled for surgery so you should definetly follow up, also my doc told me that those scans arnt 100% accurate so please have the surgery. Better safe that sorry
