this past august i was in collided with another individual and sustained a traumatic pneumothorax or collapsed lung. since then i have kept myself out of harm's way. i have been running 2 miles a day for the past few weeks, but nothing more strenuous than this. over the past weekend i shoveled snow for an hour and found that my lung was sore. i still experience sharp pains now and again, and these pains make me hesitant to get involved in more strenuous activity. should i still be cautious. i have heard it is common to still feel pain up to a year removed from the injury. when should i expect to be 100% and how can i best go about rehabing this type of injury? i am anxious to be active again.

It is typical to experience chronic lung pain after a pneumothorax or collapsed lung. You need to check with your doctor to be sure that the pain is not a sign that your lung has collapsed again.
You should progressively engage in more strenuous activity. It is difficult to tell you exactly when you to be 100%. Generally it will take you at least as long as this injury has caused you to be less active. The best rehabilitation for this type of injury will be aerobic activity, like running. Avoid activities that put excessive stress on your chest and raise the pressure within your chest, such as shoveling snow and weight lifting.

Once the lung is sealed, its all good. Especially if your young. Seeing that you're even running a few miles here and there, I see no need to worry at all!
