Diagnosed with Emphezima

by Tketcham68, Dec 17, 2006 12:00AM
Last year I was sick all winter long. I continued to see the doc but nothing got better.

I suspected I had pneumonia but Id been on antibiotics all winter that should have healed it up. They did xrays and they determined that I did have pneumonia, however they also told me that the xrays found that I had Emphizima. I was shocked. They didnt really tell me much about it. All they said was that I had to quit smoking and that there was no cure and that emphizyma always got you in the end. That was it! I was terrifyed.

I had been having other problems for about a year prior where I would collapse unable to breathe after a hot bath. I would have to lie down with my fit up for several minutes to recover myself and when I got very stressed or tense or over exhurted I would get very short of breathe.Id been to the doctors with no results. When I saw my doctor for the follow up he told me nothing. He ran no tests. He gave no meds. He said he would not see me again until I quit smoking.

I have no ins. now and cannot afford to see another doctor but my problems still exist. I dont know how bad it is , what to look forward to what stage I am or anything and Im still scared. Sometimes I breathe better than others. Weather seems to play a part. I cannat hardly stnd to climb the stairs in my house without resting at the end.

This has progressed quickly but Im told Emphizyma does not.I work alot with formaldahide and bleaing chemicals. Coudl this contribute? Im still in my skilled feild of work. I wonder if I should get out now. I know this is alot fo questions.

Emphysema is a treatable disease.  I would find another physician soon.  He or she can give you medications to help you breathe and perhaps get you into a program that will help you to stop smoking. Emphysema will continue to get worse as long as you smoke.  Exposure to irritants, such as formaldehyde, can make the situation worse.  Your first step is to see a physician who will treat you.

Hello, I read through your post and is really great.

just finished chating with a childhood friend of mine who recides in Pennsylvina, in the U.S.

She told me that her Dad has been ill for sometime now and dignosised with Emphizima.

She nearly resign to faith, but I believe somehow, that through your wonderful advice / words, he will gain back his health.

His currently has alot of trouble breathing, cant walk more than 100ft with out running out of air,he coughs a lot, and when he blows his nose, it comes out black, he is very weak and tired all the time, though his tongue colour is still as same as it were before he got ill.

His currently dignosised with emphizima  and we are looking for a cure, We need something that will heal him totally.

Please try reply as soon as possible to enable us know our faith.
