Allergies in my nose

by Sushi Sama, Apr 11, 2002 12:00AM
I'm a 15 year old freshman in highschool and have a few questions.  None of this is real serious but i just have some questions.  I've always had trouble breathing through my nose, like it feels really clogged.  When i try i make loud whistling noises and i barely get the amount of oxygen i need and give up and start breathing fast through my mouth as if i was holding my breath for a little.  If anyone can provide me with some help i w*ould be very grateful.

This is a fairly frequent complaint. It may be due to allergic or non-allergic causes. There are several treatments that are possible for symptom relief. Most of these are by prescription and your doctor can help you with them. The ones that have the most benefit, with the least side effects are the nasal inhaled steroids. However, it might be a good idea to find out the cause so that you can do something to prevent the problem and not only treat it.

oh and this has happened to me since i was a child. i also have another unrelated question.. i at times have this very TIGHT feeling in the sides of my chest and am unable to breath without a lot of pain or not even at all.  all i can do is not breath and try to breaht a couple seconds later to see if the feeling has gone away. does anyone know what is causing this? it happens very rarely but to the point where i am noticing it.

My daughter could not breath and finally an E&T looked up her nose and she had huge nasel polyps blocking her nose.  You could have polyps and I would have an E&T look.  Good luck.
