Anxiety or concern?

The end of April I performed unprotected oral sex on another guy. I also sucked on his toes and fingers. I didn't see any precum, and he didn't ejaculate in my mouth. Hours later I felt tired and was fatigued the next day. 3 days after the encounter I had a fever of 100.5 with mild leg aches. For the next two weeks, the fatigue continued and I had mainly just stomach problems with slight throat irritation. (stomach ulcers). I've been told that was likely a stomach bug. When those symptoms began to go away two weeks after the encouter I was starting feeling better. then a little after 3 weeks my throat was getting irritated again. This happened after a weekend of stressful physical yard work. Then I noticed a small red area on the tip of my tongue that had a small white lining arounding it. eventually the white line disappeared and the taste buds in that area were disappearing. The small area grew a little bit but after several days of hyrdogen peroxide it went away. Based on what I saw on my tongue, it looked like a small case of geographic tongue. Around the time it appeared on my tongue, my throat felt like it was swelling more. Then it was a little sore but it felt more like a sore gland attatch to my throat. I also began to feel tired (not fatigue. I've been having spasm or aches at the base of my neck and shoulder in the back. I've had a few icepick headaches that went away after a few minutes and when I eat some citrus fruits, I feel a warm flush around my face. Its been 3 weeks since the send bout began and I'm still tired and my throat is still a little red in areas

Your symptoms probably are not related to the sexual exposure you describe, except perhaps as a manifestion of anxiety over the event.  Certainly feeling tired "hours later" is too fast for HIV or any STD.  Further, the risk of HIV acquisition from that exposure was close to zero.

But as I have said many times, a negative HIV test might reassure you more than anything I can say.  If so, get tested.  Enough time has passed to rely on the negative result.

BTW I've had no diarrea, swollen glands or rashes, but I have had severe anxiety over this where its constantly on my mind. Its been on my mind for the past 7 weeks and I wanted to know if this was more stress related. My throat is never really sore just irritated like near the tonsils. The tonsils themselves are not red or swollen and they don't have any white patches on them. I have had a coated white toungue (i dont' think its thrush because its not thick or patchy but it could be possible that anxiety could increase the bacteria that grows in my mouth which could lead to throat irritation as well as a dry throat.

Is this likely anxiety because the anxiety was more about hiv.

The additional information doesn't change my previous response.   Coated tongue is a nonspecific symptom, common to many viruses and other, unknown causes.

Thank You so much doc. That does help ease my stress and I do plan to get tested so I can put this awful experience behind me.

Hey green,

I was in the same situation as you. I put myself through hell for 8 months. Please listen to the doc. I myself had every symptom possible, Night sweats, diarreah, swollen lymph nodes. I was freaking myself out over nothing. I wanna thank the doctor for helping me so much with this. HIV is a sceary thing. I would call CDC like 3 times a day and I changed my username like 5 or 6 times to ask the same question. Your symptoms are likely anxiety. God Bless and Good luck with your testing.

Thank You Nervous for your support. Even though I haven't tested yet, the doc's comments have helped relax more than I've felt in weeks. Of course you can never put it completely behind you until you get tested I will wait for the 3 month mark so the result are definate. (for the sake my mind) The mind is very powerful and it seems it can do alot of bad things to your body.
