Concerned about exposure

Six months ago I saw an escort and she gave me oral sex using a condom which she applied. We then had vaginal sex, also using a condom. It didn't look like it had broken and I wore it throughout. I am concerned about my exposure, particularly where chlamydia or gonhorrea are concerned. Around two months ago my wife had a brief episode of vaginal discharge. She had no discomfort. More recently I have felt a need to urinate frequently and had a mild aching in my testicles. I am tending to focus on anything unusual I feel in my genitals. I have no discharge.

I am wondering how likely I am to have been exposed.

Thank you.

The risk of acquiring an STD during the exposure you describe was just about zero; if you and/or your wife happens to have chlamydia or another STD, I would conclude it came from elsewhere.  Your symptoms do not particularly suggest chlamydia; frequent urination is not a sign of STD, unless it is distinctly painful when you urinate, there is a sense of urgency, and you need to go so frequently you are voiding very small volumes every hour or more oftten.  Testicular aching also is not usually evidence of STD.  Vaginal discharge is of concern, but of course many things--including normal varations, yeast infections, and other non-STD explanations.

But I cannot give individual medical advice.  If your symptoms persist or your wife's discharge returns, see your own health care provider(s) for further advice.

With a condom you had zero chlmydia and gonnerea risk as long as it stayed on.

Question for you Dr..if he used a condom for all sex, why is this risk "just about zero" and not zero for Chlmydia and gonerrea as well as HIV trich and all of the other non-skin transmitted diseases?

Just wondering what the risks are with an intact condom if used for vaginal AND oral? (besides skin-to-skin stds' which I can understand why it isn't zero)

Thanks

On a personal note:   I am in Seattle and a UW Alum, glad to see you operating out of my home town and school.  Are you a Husky fan at all?

HI EVERYBODY

I'M NEW IS THIS FORUM I HAVE READ SOME ARCHIVES AND TRY CONVINCE MYSELF I'M PROBABLY NOT INFECTED.

HERES MY COMENT OR QUESTION, AFTER HAVING SEX WITH A GIRL UNKNOWN HIV STATUS I CHECK MY CONDOM BY FILLING IT UP WITH WATER AFTER 5 OR 10 SECONDS OF LOOKING AT IT, IT POP. I COULD NOT TELL IF ANY LEAKS WERE PRESENT MAY BE NOT BECAUSE IT HELD FOR A FEW SECONDS. I HAD DONE THIS ALL THE TIME AFTER SEX AND CONDOM HAD NEVER POP LIKE THAT ONE, MY CONCERN IS WAS THIS A BAD CONDOM OR IT HAD A NEEDLE SIZE LEAK THAT CAUSE IT TO BREAK.

I WILL APPRECIATE COMMENTS. AND I'M CONCERN BECAUSE MY FRIENDS TOLD ME SHE USE TO PROSTITUTE HERSELF.

THANKS

Gamble,

My guess is that you're probably OK, and that usually, condoms aren't made to hold a large amount of water anyway...hence, it broke.  I doubt that a leaky condom would stay filled for "5-10 seconds" and then pop.

Gamble, what an appropriate name. You should be VERY concerned. You can get HIV from a broken condom - condoms are not a 100% foolproof guarantee that you will not get a disease that will make you terminally ill and kill you. If having sex with someone you don't know that well is so important its worth a painful death in your youth, then by all means, continue your risky behavior. If you dont want an HIV (or other fun diseases), then try practicing ABSTINENCE. And if you can't control yourself, then live with the repercussions of your behavior.
