Possible Anal Warts??

by milanhugo, Jul 03, 2006 12:00AM
Doc,

I don't know what anal warts look like, feel like, or what you feel when you have them.

But recently I changed my diet, to a high fiber diet.  I've been going to the bathroom more frequently and seems like I am wiping a lot more down there.  Recently I've been experiencing soreness and some blood after wipes.  When looking at myself through a mirror, it seems like have tiny little sores/rashes about 4 around any anus.

I have had one open sore for a long time and it won't go away, possibly from continuous wiping etc.

Basically it gets iritated down there and hurts to wipe, I haven't seen any kind of warts or anything.  The other day i noticied a horrible smell even after I showered.

I know you don't diagnose online, but do these sound like symptoms of anal warts?

Warts cause painless bumps.  Your symptoms don't suggest warts at all; sounds like one or more anal fissures.  Multiple lesions also sounds like herpes is a possibility, although herpes lesions usually do not bleed.  See a health care provider.

Not to alarm you, but if you really have had persisting anal ulcers for 2 months, I have to wonder whether you might have HIV, with chronic persistent herpes.  If the HSV-2 test was a test for the virus itself, it could have been falsely negative; you might need a blood test.  Anal fissures are not an STD, so I cannot help further along those lines.

Bottom line (no pun intended):  you definitely need to see a health care provider.

Man1970s, who_is_this:  Yes, I meant HIV.  It seems milanhugo understood and didn't panic about it.

milanhugo:  Good.  Just follow up with your provider about the anal lesions.  To be safe, you might want to have another HSV-2 blood test, if the cause of the anal lesions remains uncertain.  But follow your provider's advice.
