I had unprotected sex with a risky woman about 8 months ago.  I have just now started getting irratation around my scrotum area and under the head of my penis.  My scrotum is itching very bad and it is not really a rash just very irratated.  I play basketball quite ofetn and wear compression shorts.  The irratation occured after the game and I suspected the compression shorts caused the irratation.  After a day or two the irratation completely stopped. Everything was normal.  Two weeks later the irratation came back again and spread a bit to the middle of my penis.  There is constant itching and discomfort.

Is this a sign of chlamydia or herpes or any other STD?

That woman was my last sexual partner and that was + or - 8 months ago. Is there a chance the symptoms of a possible STD are just showing up?

How should I handle this?

This sounds most like tinea cruris (jock itch).  Definitely not an STD; the symptoms don't sound like STD and 8 months is much too long for any STD to show up.

This has nothing to do with the sexual exposure you describe.  Try an over-the-counter antifungal medication (look in the pharmacy section where the athletes foot products are).  If that doesn't help, see a health care provider.
