Concearned about chlamydia diagnosis?

by chiral, Nov 15, 2006 12:00AM
I was recently diagnosed with chlamydia after being with a new girlfriend.  This was the only girl I have been with in over two years.  I told her about it because I assumed that I had gotten the infection from her.  The symptoms appeared about 3 weeks after haveing sex with her.  She was tested less than one week after I was diagnosed, and tested negative for all STD's.  She also told the physician about my diagnosis. My question is, where do you think this infection came from? and at the same time I stated noticing a few small bumps(10-12) on my penis shaft and scrotum.  Some have hair coming from them, and others do not, or at least don't appear to.  No itching or burning, and the size is <0.5mm. Could this be anything since she tested negative for HPV and herpes?

Assuming your story is accurate (symptoms 3 weeks after first contact, no other partners for 2 years), the only possibility is that you acquired your infection from your new girlfriend.  Her test must have been false negative.  That can occur sometimes with any test, but a false negative result is especially likely if her provider used one of the older chlamydia tests.  The most important thing is that your girlfriend must be treated for chlamydia; and you should not have sex with her until you both have completed treatment.

Your symptoms don't sound like herpes or warts, and it's too soon for warts to appear as a result of HPV exposure only 3 weeks previously.  If the bumps persist, return to the provider who diagnosed your chlamydial infection for advice and diagnosis.
